Men and chickens.

I guess I and the men I know here must be a bit odd. I've seen men crying here because a predator got their favorite rooster.
I think this men are unemotional is a bit of a stereotype. Maybe American men are more like this.
My husband is from the generation of men don't cry. That is changing though. If my husband got as emotional as me he could never hold a job. I think men can be emotional, but most are more practical. It's just a general observation. Of course everyone is an individual with different ways of being.

For awhile yes that was the social norm. "Men are suposed to be tough they dont Cry" its still hard for most of them to get away from that if they had rugged dads

I do think the culture you are brought up in has an influence.
I know some very practical women but they had to struggle to get their skills recognized and rewarded the same as men.
I think that for older generations in particular there was often the matter of physical strength involved in say becoming a tradesman and this favoured the men in general.
Here, in Catalonia, there are more women in what would have been considered as mens jobs than I saw in the UK.
It's a bit like the view of hens and roosters. IN my experience its the hens that choose the roosters while the popular view is the roosters force the hens to mate.

The good thing is things continue to change and evolve with humans.

This is probably the first generation of men that didn't have to worry about some basic needs in order to survive. Men no longer need to protect their families physically like they used to. Even just a hundred years ago life was about getting food and shelter, and basic survival. The current generation doesn't understand that concept as much which frees them up.

Things I think are more progressive in Europe as opposed to America where men still rule this nation. Women are slowly catching up though, and men are slowly letting down those emotional guards, and giving up the tough guy roll.

The other aspect of chicken keeping is it a bit of a nurturing hobby. Women are more likely to want to take care of things. Men want to accomplish something.

Come to Israel, and I think you will re-think about some of your assumptions :)
