I've had this experience, except with dog poop. Bad enough to wake you up in horror! Also with skunks spraying around and under the house. It's just awful to wake up that way.

Nasty! That must be awful smelling skunk spray all of a sudden in the middle of your sleep

It actually made it almost impossible to go back to sleep, and it smelled for days. We had the crawlspace sealed up really good after that, but still lots of skunk activity around our home. Sometimes we just get caught in the crossfire!
