The odds of your cat coming home on its own depends on whether its a inside cat that got out or an outside cat that's got lost or got into trouble(can't go home)The best time to look for your cat is late at night. There's less traffic at night and its quieter( it can hear you call its name) Most lost cats are found 3 blocks from their house

Im in a rual area. Homes on 1, 3 and 5 aecrs. He was indoor/outdoor into a 1 aecr backyard fenced in 6ft chain link. His habit was to stay in the yard. He didn't like going out front at all. He also would come back to the door to be let in about every hour or two and would come to a whistle. We have been looking every night at about 10pm an 5am in the morning. We also have packs of coons and coyotes. He disappeared at around maybe 6 to 8 am after he was let out that day.

His mom's territory is my yard my two side neighbors and my back neighbor. If anything he could be at the back neighbors but he would be able to hear me from the back fence. The other cat that went missing is a completely out door cat. Its a very weird situation and many others have been losing cats and small dogs recently out here. Even if most of the losses are in the back half of the neighborhood where its more wooded.

My brother and I live across the street from one another. We're both animal lovers and have a lot of rescue cats.He keeps his in an office trailer but my cats live with me.I have outdoor enclosures (catios) attached to the house so they can spend time outdoors without fear of losing them. We used to let our cats go in and out until the bob cats and coyotes started eating them.

.We had one that liked to sleep inside of a parked vehicles. We've had visitors who drove off with her in the car who brought her back after discovering her in the car. One time she was gone for almost 3 weeks so she must have got in the car of someone we didn't know. She came back weeks later skinny as a rail. Last time she disappeared she never came back

Yeah and I know coons will can mess cats up as well. We also have a few eagles in the area. Its just freaking weird when none of the neighbors cats go missing or my 4 other indoor outdoor cats. Only other thing I can think of is another cat chased him off.
