So right now I'm in a bit of a situation. We have two flocks right now. One is formed out of 2 roosters and 2 chickens. They are around 3 months old and getting quite big. 9 1 month old chicks are the other flock. We only have one coop and right now we kinda have to release the younger generation. Today was their first day together. There was almost no fighting, just a bit of running around. The small ones were staying away from the big ones, which seem to be very territorial. Whenever they are trying to get close, the biggest rooster takes a very aggresive posture and scares them back in their corner. We wanted to let them sleep together, but there is no chance. The big ones are inside the coop, while the others stay outside and cry. We just brought them back inside.
So tl;dr how do you introduce a significantly younger generation to an older one? I'm scared that the big ones will injure the small chicks, or worse.
