What's going on with this egg? I found it like this. It was just laid. It's really really rough feeling. It's not wet so it can't be water marks. They get layer pellets and oyster shell everyday. They also get fresh veggies most days.

I've seen a few eggs like that from my flock. Eggs can have all sorts of "defects" in the shell. They are more often than not just fine on the inside, they just don't look perfect.

I've had eggs with ripples on them, knobby exteriors, color spots, tiny eggs, huge eggs..the list goes on.

A hen can lay a weird egg and the next day a perfect one. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why anomalies show up.

Thank you. I was beginning to worry.
