Hi,
I have 16 assorted hens, all about 10 months old. One of my Brahmas has a really messy backside. If it was warmer out, I would put her backside in some nice warm water to clean her, but I'm not sure what to do with her in the cold weather. The rest of the girl look good..their butts are nice and fluffy, so I'm not sure what's going on with her. any suggestions?

A couple options come to mind. You can bathe her bum as you said and then dry her feathers with a hair dryer so she won’t get chilled. Or you can just take a sharp pair of scissors and trim away any messy feathers.

Hiya hun i have a buff orpington who disabled her back end grts covered in poo and matted i bath her in sink give good wash and trim matted bits off then i blowdry her backside before she goes back out
Sam xx
