Messy little girls

Is it common chicks are so messy with their food? They waste so much of it... they actually put their heads inside the feeder and with their beak push the food out on the floor and barely eat it

.

yep mine are the same way they waste so much of it!!! they actually jump onto the feeder and scratch it onto the floor!

Oh Yes!! My babies always make a terrible mess with their food and water. They dont seem to mind walking through their water with icky feet then falling asleep in the feed they tossed out of the feeder lol. Kind of an inevitable occurrence with chicks. They will eat the tossed out crumbles if I scoop them into a pile sometimes, I think it kind of teaches them to scratch and learn what is food and what is just shavings.

But do you save the floor that is on the floor, because I am not too kin on doing it (food mixed with poop

i usually put a paper towel under the feeder so that the paper towel catches most of the food... it helps a little
