Interesting, I wonder if it's super common and the birds are actually...ok

and by that I mean, it doesn't have a horrifying impact the way we thought it might

To be fair BB are not lead pellets, but still makes you wonder.

Chickens eat all kinds of stuff.
Once while butchering cockrels with my Mother, (we had 100 and were doing 10 a day) we found a aluminum roofing nail stuck thru the meat of the gizzard and the pointy end poking into the innards.
We had left this rooster for last, hopping he would put on some weight like his flock mates.
No wonder he was skinny.
He had constant burning heartburn!
Poor fellow.
