Metal wing bands??

My serama girl has a wing band and it seem just way tooo big for her. I do not like it and was going to remove it, but was told it could leave a hole in my sweet little girl. I am going to have my vet remove it for me. I will never ever wing band any of my birds.

i bought 2 game hens and they have the wing bands in not good with games so i have no clue what color they are and the looks of my birds seem to look like they were important for some reason lol but 2 ov the 6 i bought have them ill post pics of the birds and the wing bands later... please somone help me

In my opinion, yes and many breeders agree. Some of the advantages are, wing bands are permanent, whereas leg bands are sometimes lost or beat up beyong ledgeability with age. Also, wing bands do not tighten as the bird grows, necessitating the replacement of the band.

Same Problem!! I bought 40 chicks today thru an Ag guy in Sinton but he got them through Ideal. They are 4 days old and wing banded. The guy I bought them from said they come right out, no problem. WELL.... Problem! These things are riveted shut for one, I clipped it on both sides of the wing and tried to pull and the thing wouldn't budge. I quit with the first chick after a few tries to do some research on how to get them off. Anyone ... Please.... Went and checked a little bit ago and the one chick I tried to get it off is barely responsive while the others are fully alert.

In that case it is obvious that the wing band is not responsible for your chick's distress.
