I bought my daughter 3 chicks at the local feedstore. They were supposedly BAs, sexed as pullets at the hatchery. At 3wks, they're looking more barred (lots of white on the pin feathers!) Anyone able to tell sex by the shape of the white spots on their heads (fading fast!)? Doesn't really matter, but I'll definitely call the feedstore and find out which hatchery they used, and perhaps politely inform them that a case of mistaken identity has come up (if that's the case). We're having way too much fun with the shabby little fliers, in any casee

If they have a white spot on the top of the head, they are barred rocks, or if they made a major mistake, sex link cockerels!

I'll put up the first one of yours, but the second was resized so small so as not to be helpful.

I'm just on my very first chicken flock, but it's 5 BR, and they looked an awful lot like yours a couple of months ago! I'd bet that's what you have. I adore mine- they follow me around and love being petted. They're very sweet and easy!

Thanks, rscrvc, for putting up the pics properly! And thanks everyone else for your input. The feathers are definitely coming in barred, and I'll take new pics so we can speculate on roos vs grrls next. They are so sweet, but I can see wing clipping in their future already! My daughter put one on each of my shoulders, and one on my head this afternoon. Where's the camera when you really need it?!

I'll get new pics this week, but the "girls" are dark barred, have dark legs on the front, and are all developing combs and wattles at 5 weeks -- cuckoo marans? Mutts? BTW, when I put some yogurt and grapes in for them this am, I thought I was going to lose my fingers! LOL
