Metzer Farms???

Had anyone ordered from Metzer??? Opinions??? I searched the enter web and have yet to find a bad review on them.
If all goes as planned I will be ordering two Indian Runner ducklings (haven't decided if I want two ducks or a duck and drake).

I got ducks and geese from Metzer 2 years ago. Got exactly the breeds and sexes I wanted. Metzer also added an extra African girl to the order which was nice. She ended up being my favorite. If I ever wanted more ducks or geese I would order from them again.

Metzer is AWESOME!!! I ordered some Welshies over 2 years ago and I love em to pieces. They all made it safe and healthy, and the breed is amazing!

My only issue with Metzer is the exhorbitant fees for small orders. They charge an extra $35 for small orders, plus their shipping fee, which is location based. There are other online hatcheries with much lower fees.

3 Indian Runner females on Metzer ended up be $75 for my location. In contrast, Ideal Poultry can give me 5 females for $38, shipping included!

Yep my order would be two ducks costing $15 then the postal charge would be $13 then extra small order fee would be $35.
Have ordered from Ideal??? I'm leery of them because my sister ordered chicks and ducklings from them last spring the chicks were all alive but all the ducklings were dead, not sure what happened if it was the hatchery or the post office might not have gotten a hold of her soon enough, the hatchery did refund her money and offered to resend more ducklings.
I'm just trying do research before I buy, I have never ordered ducks or anything live before so I'm naturally leery.

I have not yet ordered from them. I am currently working on pricing all the hatcheries for an order I will place in the next few weeks. I can update once I place my order to report on the health of the ducklings that arrive.

I would look to see what hatchery is closest to you. The ducklings will be in transit less time and more likely to be healthy. If I ordered ducklings and had them shipped right now, they would die because of the cold weather here. So transit weather is another thing to think about this time of year.

Ordered 2 runners from Metzer last summer and they arrived happy and healthy. I could hear them peeping as soon as I opened the door to the post office to pick them up
The shipping is a bit high for the small orders but they package them well and arrived quickly.
I have 3 more runners from Metzer that are currently on their way and arriving tomorrow. Hoping they are just as healthy.

I just placed an order with Metzer Farms for some Golden 300s, Welsh Harlequins, and a pair of Buff Geese. I ordered them for April 2nd, so a bit of a wait ... which gives us time to complete our duck & geese housing. I will report in when our ducks and geese arrive. We are excited!
