I got these chicks 6 weeks ago, they are about 3 weeks in the pics. I got some birds special ordered, and some in assortments, I will name breeds, I may guess wrong, but I will try and
say what assortment they come in also... the hens from these assortments are hatchery choice. Rainbow assortment F (5), Leann's assortment St. Run (5), rare breed, F (5), plus one MM.

Below looks like M leann's black australorp...

I hope this gives a good sampler of chicks from these selections. The assortments will differ of course, one time I got 2 LO, and a butter cup in a rare order.

It is fun to get assortments, because you don't know what you may get, but I say if you really want a certain breed, order that separately, or maybe 2+ of the kind you really want.

I ordered these at the end of Oct. if I had ordered them in say in May, I might have had more of a selection.

I thought I was going to take pics of my brooder, my chicks are 9 weeks old now and don't really need a brooder, but I don't want to mix them with the big birds yet. My birds were from meyer rare breed, leann's and rainbow. I had 16 birds and thought I got 4 australorps because they were all black and didn't think much about it. Today I saw one big black hiding behind a silky. At closer look it had really fluffy cheeks, but not a pea comb, so I think still an ameraucana but not an australorp, haha.

I have Black Australorps coming in Feb, both cockerels and pullets, can't wait! My current flock consists of blue/ green/ olive layers (EE) and white layers (BL); all my brown layers (BO) are either on strike or have retired at age three :barnieso I am looking forward to having brown eggs again this summer.

I really like the personalities of australorps. Plus they are so pretty!

Oh I'm glad to hear the BA have nice personalities! It's what I like about my EEs. I also have BLs and they are "flighty," which makes them pretty well predator-proof, but you can't get near them unless they are roosting, either, lol! My chickens are not pets, but I do like it when I scatter scratch that the EEs are crowded around me like they know I am not a threat. I hope the BA will do that too.
