Thanks you allIm going to call the post office and Meyer today. I think I will just take Tuesday off, I already have Weds and Thurs off so hopefully I should be covered. My other issue is we are expecting over a foot of snow starting Monday night and all day Tuesday into Wednesday!!! What terrible timing.
Now Im so worried my chicks will be delayed and maybe even perish before arrival. Nothing I can do but hope for the best. Stinks though because we really haven't gotten much snow at all this winter. We've had several days in the high 50's even in February and March which is super rare. And now that my chicks are being delivered we are expecting over a foot of snow!!!!! fingers crossed all goes well
Thanks again for all your help![]()
Good morning,
I looked back at my e-mails from last spring and it looks like I chose 4/25 as my hatch date. They did, in fact, ship on the 25th (from McMurray and MPC) and they arrived on the 27th. The company does not specify hatch date, so I can't tell you definitively if they were all hatched on 4/25 or if any of them were a few days older. They all seemed to be the same size, other than the Polish, but that's to be expected because they're smaller.
If I were you, I would call Meyer and ask them to delay your order in light of the storm. My chicks came relatively quickly in spring weather, and I had a few losses. There were 3 DOA Polish in my McMurray order, and I ordered two Silver Spangled Hamburgs, one of which was in bad shape upon arrival and didn't make it through the day. No losses from MPC though. I wouldn't risk chicks getting held up in a snowstorm, personally. I'd be willing to bet the hatchery doesn't want to ship out a bunch of chicks just to have them die either.

Let us know how it works out!
