Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Yeah, looking back at your most recent picture of Sunni, I would lean more toward cockerel at this point, too. :/

I always thought with Easter-eggers that the tail feather length indicated male from female, since the two EE boys I had before had almost no tail feathers for weeks. I'm pretty sure Hika Ma is a boy at this point, though, and he got his tail feathers in early, so I just don't know anymore on that. :idunno

Like I said, though, Easter-eggers are tricky! I've even seen one with all the sure signs of being a boy turn out to be a hen after all. You just never know.

Here are some photo's of Sunni. As you can see in the photos, he doesn't have hardly any feathers, and his feathers are all dark and slightly curled.

And here's Daffodil for comparison.

Here's some photos of Amber.

and here's Ellie for comparison.

What do you think? I'm still 99.9% sure that Sunni is a boy. Amber I'm not so sure because I've never had EE's before.

Alright, thank you Pip! Sunni does have some huge legs now that you mention it

I'm so bummed! I really can't have any more roosters...

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that Amber is a pullet

How old are your chicks again? I think your EE's are girls, they do have the typical coloring of girl EE's. I wouldn't count Sunni as a boy just yet. With my Barred Rocks I have one huge one with slow feathering on her tail and with huge legs, the others have longer tails and are much slimmer built, but all 3 are female.

My chicks will be 4 weeks old on Sunday. Thank you for your advice! I guess I'll just have to wait it out and keep my fingers crossed that they are all pullets like I ordered.

I'm doing the same thing with my 4 week olds. It's hard not to, I don't want roosters either.

Yup, I agree with the wait and see approach ChickenMomma. I have 2 Buff Brahma and one was feathering in very slowly and one much quicker. I was told my slow feathering one was a roo but it turns out the quicker feathered one is a roo. Not super good news for you because one of mine did turn out to be a roo, but I guess you just never know.

And as far as EE's go, I think you just don't know until at least 6-8 weeks. I have 4 EE's (all pullets as far as I can tell) and 2 looked identical as chicks and one feathered in brown/clean face and the other is black body/white head. And my other 2 looked very very similar and one feathered in white/gray/beard and the other is salmon breast/brown body/huge beard. So I hold out a lot of hope your EE's are both pullets! I can't wait to see what yours look like. I love how they change so much.

I know nothing about trying to tell a pullet from a cockerel, but I wish you good luck mschickenmomma that they will turn out to be pullets!

I have my fingers crossed that all 6 of mine will be girls! I have no idea what to watch for and they are all different breeds so I can't compare them to anyone else...
