Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Congrats on that egg!!! What pretty girls you have there!

Thank you! I think so too!

Woohoo!!  An egg!!!  And your son is adorable :)
Hopefully my BR won't be far behind yours... mine are 16 weeks old!

Thanks ! There were so many changes in those weeks!

No egg for us today but I noticed a real nice nest made in the nest box so hopefully tomorrow! I swear the BR's comb has grown a half inch in the last week.

That's how mine were too! Good luck!

I soooo wish I could get more but I'm at my limit
Great offer though :) And I think next time I am ready to get more I would do it this time of year.

Hi, I have read your story, and I am so sorry for the attack you had. I would like to share my story with you. We bought 9 chicks from Meyers, and we drove 4 hours to pick them up. I asked about getting them vaccinated. I was told since I had so few and never had chickens on my property that I should not have a problem. A month later we picked up 6 more from our local farm store. These chicks were also not vaccinated. Last week my ee girl came up lame. They are 5 months old now. Not eating, drinking well. I brought her inside and really started checking out my POL chicks. I have 2 that have ocular changes. Doing my research, my ee girl could have a couple of things going on. But the ocular change, that's merricks. You can pick it up anywhere and bring it home. Heck the wind can bring it home. This is my first time owning chickens, and we have merricks. Yes I say we because I take it with me where ever I go. If your other chickens are vaccinated, I would vaccinate the new ones too.

Hope all goes well for you and the new chicks.

Deb
Thank you, I hope your chicks are doing better now.

That was very tempting! Shipping does cost a lot! I resisted, I am trying to add more egg colors to my flock now. The ones that I have left are all brown egg layers, except for the one EE.

Good luck with everyone with getting eggs. I think the only one of my 6 that laid eggs was Oreo and she may not have even started yet. The dog seemed to attack all the ones that were already laying eggs.

I have Pepper, another BR who still does not have any red and has a very small comb and wattles. I am thinking she's a mix, she was the Meal Maker.

My RIR, Ash has started squatting for me and my EE, Olivia (her name used to be Haddie) is checking out nest boxes.

I'm actually in no hurry for eggs now, just want everyone to get back to good health.

Last night Big Mama and Oreo did not look so good and I was so worried going to the coop this morning. This morning though, Oreo ate like a pig and moved around a lot!

Even Big Mama looked a little better and looked like she picked up very small bits of food. She also drank a lot of water with electrolytes.

Keep those egg pictures coming, it's nice to see what I have to look forward too. I just wish their recoveries would go a little faster.

Glad those two were better this morning.

We got our first egg! I think it was our BR. Here is a pic next to a store bought egg. It's a really light brown cream color. it weighs around 1.2oz (our scale isnt very accurate).
