Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Glad those two were better this morning.

We got our first egg! I think it was our BR. Here is a pic next to a store bought egg. It's a really light brown cream color. it weighs around 1.2oz (our scale isnt very accurate).

Congrats, it seems most of my first eggs were 1.2 ounces, must be common for a pullet egg.

That's a nice sized egg for a first one!!!

Good luck with everyone with getting eggs. I think the only one of my 6 that laid eggs was Oreo and she may not have even started yet. The dog seemed to attack all the ones that were already laying eggs.

I have Pepper, another BR who still does not have any red and has a very small comb and wattles. I am thinking she's a mix, she was the Meal Maker.

My RIR, Ash has started squatting for me and my EE, Olivia (her name used to be Haddie) is checking out nest boxes.

I'm actually in no hurry for eggs now, just want everyone to get back to good health.

Last night Big Mama and Oreo did not look so good and I was so worried going to the coop this morning. This morning though, Oreo ate like a pig and moved around a lot!

Even Big Mama looked a little better and looked like she picked up very small bits of food. She also drank a lot of water with electrolytes.

Keep those egg pictures coming, it's nice to see what I have to look forward too. I just wish their recoveries would go a little faster.
Great news!!! So glad Big Mama is eating and Oreo is moving around. Besides Pepper, Ash and Olivia, which other older one is left that was unharmed? You had 4 older ones get away?

I had 3 older ones and one 8 week old get away. (There is no telling what I typed before, I was a little stressed, to say the least.)

So I have 3 uninjured 20 week old ones now and the two injured 20 week old ones and the one 9 week ols now.

So 6 total. My flock looks so small now.

I just read that Meyers states Salmon Favrrolles are fragile. I hope not, cause I ordered one for August. I rcd 16wk old pullets and 4wk olds from someone local. So will be my first time with day old chicks.

Took some pictures of my Meyer babies today, about 7 1/2 weeks old. :)

Here is Oreo, she is actually standing here on both feet and tried to walk around. I let all of them in the garden for awhile today and she hopped out of her cage to go out to. I had to carry her out. She sat down soon after and pecked and ate some grass.

Big Mama walked into the garden herself and pecked around like a normal chicken. Here she is preening, she even flapped her wings a little, she is still in slow motion with everything and I still do not see her getting anything when she pecks.

She still is pretty plump, so she must be getting something in her. The side you see is the side where the eye was closed. She now opens it half way and seems to be able to see out of both.

So today was a good day for them, hopefully they keep improving.

The other four went crazy when I opened their door to the garden and flew out and ran around like crazy. They are still pretty weary so after awhile they put themselves back in the coop, which made it easy for me.

Oh, my EE, Olivia finally squatted for me! I moved to slow to pet her though, maybe nest time. So I hope eggs soon!

Aw, sorry. I thought another one had made it. Is the 9 week old like one of the big girls now? What breed (and name) is that one?

They look great and all wonderful news! Do you have a scale to put Big Mama on? If you could check her wt. over a few days you could put your mind at ease that she is eating!
