Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Congrats on the egg chickenmamma, I had a feeling she was gonna lay today.

I just realized yesterday was a month till I get my chicks!

Squatting usually comes about a week before egg laying, but sometimes they don't squat until after they begin to lay. Her interest in the box makes me think she will probably squat soon. I'm thinking in a week or two she will start laying.

Here is a picture of one of my Meyer partridge Rocks about 2 weeks before she laid her first egg:

And on the day of laying her first egg:

My partridge Rocks didn't lay until around 30 weeks old, but you can see how the comb looked pretty red long before she laid and there wasn't much comb and wattle growth between the two pictures. (Keep in mind, in general it seems the hatchery barred and white Rocks have larger combs and wattles than the partridges do.)

Thanks for that! Our Partridge Rock has much smaller combs and wattles than our BR and she is not laying yet (24 weeks?). She is getting a lot more talkative but no squatting yet.
Now I won't worry if she isn't progressing.
I want a bearded D'Unccle!!!!!! the pics in the magazines do NOT do them justice....Beautiful bird and congrats on the win!!!!

They are beautiful. They are friendly too. A couple kids used them for showmanship.

I got my first jumbo egg today...

2.5 oz! The dark one on the left is from my Cuckoo Marans and the one on the right, just as dark, is from
one of my RIR's. They weigh 1.9 for comparison.

I think my Marans comb/wattles have grown even more for those that are getting them or have new chicks:

Scarlett in the nest box and my other RIR, Big Red, supervising.
She is such a 'mother hen' and inspects every single egg that is laid
and also supervises who is in which nest. She practically lives in the coop
now supervising everything. I think SHE is the reason I get a few eggs
on the poop board or in the run- I've seen her kick a few chickens out of
the nest and they end up laying them wherever they can! Anyone know
why she would do that and if curtains over the box would help???

Lol you know me too well! So far it's def 2 EEs 1 Golden Cuckoo Marans 1 BO and 2 Polish (blue&buff) I decided to take the CM off and will prob add a welsummer. All females of course cause I already have 4 Roos. Congrats on the jumbo egg, you think it's a double yolker? I wanna add a BA and BR but hubby thinks I'm only getting 4 and he wasn't happy at all about that. So I can only imagine how much trouble I'm gonna get into with 9.
I love your set up!!! You did a great job.

Here are some of my Meyer babies this morning taking a nap. I'm just so in love with these ducks, I still can't believe I finally got some!

Congrats on the double yolker! We haven't cracked any of ours yet. I think I'll do that next time we need some eggs.

I love the coop!

I am so glad I have a Partridge Rock especially after looking at your pics. I hope little Rocky looks as pretty as yours does when she is big. She'll be 30 weeks at the end of February, so I have a long, long wait for her. If Daisy the White Rock holds out for 30 weeks, it'll be the end of November before she lays. I think she will lay an egg in the next 2 to 3 weeks though, by the way she is acting.

Thanks!!! Im glad! Im so excited i cant wait!!! Its SO Hard!!
Yup, the waiting is so hard.

They are beautiful. There are too many beautiful chicken breeds out there, I want one of each!!!

That is an awesome setup, love the deck! That is so funny about Big Red, your chicken supervisor. Your BA is so dainty looking and beautiful. Congrats on the double yolker, that's a big egg.

Your EE has such a dark beard. It looks like one of our new chicks may end up having a straight comb or a noodle comb. I hope she lays an egg color other then brown.
