Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

My LB Leghorn, Whiri, was doing that, too, when she first started laying. I think they're trying to put more bedding behind them where the egg will land, but don't quite throw it far enough or something.

Did Whiri's ear lobes turn white before she started laying? What egg was she when she started? Izzie, our light brown leghorn seems to be getting those big wattles and comb, but her lobes are still small and light colored now, not that white.

Do you have a Welsummer? Mine is looking so much like Izzie now, just a little smaller with the comb and wattles, but white earlobes also. I guess there is some leghorn in her DNA?

I've never noticed mine placing nesting materials on their backs, I'm going to be watching for that now. Chickens are silly and fun to watch!

I love these pictures of Whiri, great pics and great looking chicken!

Honestly, I'll have to go back and look through her pictures to tell you when her earlobes turned white. I don't have a Welsummer, but it's on my short list for next year's order. :D

ETA: Looks like my LB Leghorn, Whiri, had white earlobes by 11-12 weeks old.

Thank you! Wow! They do look very similar. My two Campines are both almost identical. I can only tell them apart by looking at their tails. One has one tail feather with a with tip, and the other doesn't.
