Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Everything I want is available that week too! I would just cancel my Aug order, but I am definitely not ready for babies next week.
I just looked...almost everything I want is available except 1 of my polish...I could get 2 of the same color. AND they would be born on my son's birthday. But I'm not sure when the regular coop would be ready & I'm going back to work soon...and I wouldn't be able to drive up there since my shoulder isn't ready to drive that far. I should just leave it like it is and wait and hope one becomes available in July...

I'm thinking that since my hatchday is still a ways off, there might be a chance still for me to add a pure blue egg layer to my order yet. In the next few weeks, they will know how many fertilized eggs they have being put into the incubator...fingers crossed I can grab one of them! Financially, that will put me in a better place than trying to move everything up over a month and a half.

And I still have plan b...

I've just gotta be patient!!!!!

Well, I did it - I emailed Meyers and had them take off the Australorp female to make way for the Cream Legbar I KNOW they will have available for my hatchday!!! :)

If I regret it, then I can always add one next year...

I'm making sure I will have plenty of room as I make the final decision on a coop. I'm having a hard time deciding between these 2 coops:

Option 1:

Option 2 - same triple run, just on a platform so it's higher

Hello all, Just got my chicks from meyer hatchery on wed!! All are doing well!! I ordered from them last year and all of those are doing wonderful and laying eggs like crazy!! This is my hatchery of choice!! I have ordered from several others and didn't have great luck with them. So I def recommend Meyer!!
Congrats!! Pictures?

I'm pretty excited, I think I may only have 1 BLRW rooster! I was thinking a week ago that both of my splashes were males, yay!

I will have update with pics later, its been horrible weather up here in MI. Rain everyday with wacky warm to cold weather and tornado warnings.
That's great news, I hope you're right!

Sorry about the bad weather though.

Finally let the chicks out into the run. My son had to shoo a few out, but, once they got outside, they loved it! The "rooish" acting Delaware was the first one out.

Beautiful Delaware! All your chicks are so pretty.

Thanks! They were so happy that they did not want to go back into the coop. 10 did go in on their own and then I had to round up the other 12! The last one in was a Delaware, of course! They are so independent. Trying to catch the little ones was a real task. I am so glad no one was filming me! LOL

They are getting big - they will be 9 weeks on Monday. It's funny that they look so big to me, but, I went with my son on a coop tour today in Westport, CT and cannot believe how much bigger they will still get! I will tell you that I went on this tour thinking that I was going to see some elaborate coops at huge homes. Instead, we saw coops that were much simpler and smaller than ours. But, we met a lot of really nice people, who obviously enjoy keeping chickens and sharing their passion with others, and the settings were so serene. It was such a beautiful day to spend with my almost 21-year old son. It just reinforced that this is the lifestyle for me! Obviously, you all agree or you wouldn't be on this site. Thank you all in the "Meyer Hatchery" forum for sharing your enthusiasm!
A coop tour, sounds neat! IT's great that you're son shares in your chicken fun! My 23 and 25 year old son's are always coming home with their wives to get more eggs. Both son's are pretty much health freaks now, so organic eggs are a must for them, plus the "free" part helps! I'm looking forward to sometime in the near (I hope) future teaching my grandchildren all about chickens and gardening.

I ended up taking the Buckeye to the swap this morning. I was standing near the front of the store by the registers waiting for the coordinator to come up and started talking to a teenage girl who wanted to see him, she peeked inside and he flew up onto my arm, a minute later a man walked in, asked what I had and said he'd take him. I didn't even make it into the swap! I guess its a good thing as I only had an hour and a half that I could be there (crazy busy weekend with family). But honestly I was kinda in shock for the rest of the day, it's like okay...

The teenager immediately asked him what he was going to do with him, he said he was going to put him with his hens and said "I'm not going to eat him, I've got white birds for eating". So that little roo is either in for a great life with his own harem or perhaps a rude awakening when he tries to boss hens four times his size. Hopefully they put him in check quickly and teach him some manners. I wish I had asked the guy more questions, but he didn't seem like the type to wax poetically about his flock. I totally cried on the way home even though I know our flock will be more peaceful without him, the brooder is so much more quiet tonight. I feel guilty I couldn't provide him a good home and anxious that I don't know what kind of environment he is in. Still I wish him a happy life with the hens.
So sorry, you did the best for your flock though. Plus he'll have the older ladies to teach him how to be a gentleman.

Thanks! I think raising parrots helps a little, but I definitely want to be as prepared as possible! I'm an RN, so I'm pretty analytical when it comes to things. But I'm very glad that I found this forum. It is interesting what you were saying about the color eggs your EE lay. So they aren't guaranteed to lay blue/green eggs then. That's really good to know! I was considering getting one if i couldn't get a cream legbar or BAM. I'm not going to since the only reason was to appease my son's request for a blue egg layer. Even if I have to get one locally from a breeder...I will hold out. I have a couple of leads from craigslist that I will follow up on after I we pick up our chicks from Meyers...still hoping for a miracle!
I have 3 EE's and I was lucky since all three lay green to green/blue eggs. They are really pretty with their variety of colored feathers. I enjoy the uniqueness of the chickens themselves too. The beards, the puffed cheeks, so adorable.

A CREAM LEGBAR FEMALE JUST BECAME AVAILABLE FOR MAY 27 HATCHDAY!!!!

If that works for anyone - RUN to the website and grab it!!!!
You really like to tempt me don't you?

Nice looking coops, can you see them in person too? Just to make sure they are predator proof and the size you want. Check any reviews about them too. You may have already done all this, but just in case.

Of course I like to tempt you!!!

I can't go see the coops in real life, but I've read quite a few reviews from here. They are predator proof for the most part. I plan on putting pavers down to make even more predator proof. I know we have racoons around here as seen on the road, but I'm not sure how close to the residential areas they will come. I staked out the measurements today outside, to make sure the coop would fit in the area I want, and we are good there. Now to just decide if I want it up on risers or not...
