Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

This thread is moving so fast lately! So hard to keep up! That's great though! On my tablet now but I have some recent pics of my Meyers ladies to post once I get back to my laptop. Pip is going to Meyers?, so jealous. Someone is broody hatching? Happy stalking to the website stalkers. This is a great little community we have here, I agree!

Nice looking coops. I always say go as big as you can. If you measure and you're happy with how it would look in your yard, I would go for the one on risers. Are they going to free range too? If not, it would allow you to put some branches or other things for them to hang out on, or hang a cabbage etc..

Awww, so sweet. Good luck and keep us posted! Since you picked up the eggs rather than shipping hopefully you will have a good hatch rate. Is this your first time attempting a broody hatch?

I completely agree!! And so glad things are calm with your girls. They're probably breathing a sigh of relief :)

X2!!

Yes this is the first time with hatching eggs, I am just so excited! I can't wait!

I know she is going to get tired of me because I keep going in checking on her making sure she is comfy. Everyone laughs at me, but hey! I love my girls!

here is a picture of her on the new broody box I built her the other was just a small dog carrier till I could find or build something bigger. Sorry the photos are not that great of quality

Sorry was trying to get the photos to go bigger!
I somehow missed this post. This is exciting, please update us on her progress. I am doing this soon too!!!
Of course I like to tempt you!!!

I can't go see the coops in real life, but I've read quite a few reviews from here. They are predator proof for the most part. I plan on putting pavers down to make even more predator proof. I know we have racoons around here as seen on the road, but I'm not sure how close to the residential areas they will come. I staked out the measurements today outside, to make sure the coop would fit in the area I want, and we are good there. Now to just decide if I want it up on risers or not...
I say, so with the one with the risers, easier to clean and get in and out. They both look great! Glad to here they have good reviews too!

I added wood chips to the run and they are a mix of cedar and pine. Smells so much better now and the girls like them. Here are a few pics of some of them. I made sure to add in my 3 EE's, beards and all.

Here is the one surviving cardinal. Our dog Maxie killed one and injured the other before we caught her. She is for sure not going to be around our chickens. They will free range at separate times. We had her on a leash around them and she lunge at one of my EE's. She is a great protector of night predators, but is a killer. She has killed 3 opossums over the past few years and one raccoon. I am so mad at her for killing the baby birds, but I guess this is just the way she is, otherwise she is a good dog and we did have her first so we'll just have to work around this to protect our chickens.

Ok, exciting news! If you don't follow Meyer's on facebook...you should!

Today they posted the list of chicks ready to be shipped, so I asked about the cream legbars. I use an alias on facebook, not my real name (in case anyone else saw my post)

Here's what I posted & here is their response!!!

Me - "Any chance of any cream legbars being available later this summer?"

Them - "It's likely. Inventory changes for a number of reasons: 1. An order is canceled 2. We can estimate better when the eggs come in three weeks before hatch 3. The chicks hatch so we KNOW how many we have Best days to check for changed inventory are Fridays and Mondays, though cancellations can show up anytime. Good luck!"

So there you have it...straight out of the hen's mouth so to speak!!! FINGERS AND TOES CROSSED FOR ANYONE DOING THE REFRESH DANCE!!!!

I agree...there is a wrinkle though. This one is on sale right now & for the next few weeks BUT it is on backorder. The backorder part doesn't bother me since the expected release date says July 12 & my hatch date isn't even until July 14. But it won't let you order at the sale price right now. I don't have my settlement $$ yet, but I expect it sometime in the next 2 weeks & I would like to (need to) catch it on sale. I've put an email in to the company asking if I can go ahead and pay for one on sale & they can ship it once it is off backorder. I mean, really - $$ in hand is better than nothing...right??!!!

Now my $$$ needs to get here ASAP!!!!

I hope everything goes good for her. she is going to be a good momma orp! She only leaves the nest really early in the morning I kept watch one day and that was the only time she left. Since I picked the eggs up at Meyer hatchery I am hoping for a good hatch rate, as long as my girl is doing her part! lol I know when you get a broody you will be just as excited!

Oh wow! I love all your girls!

The beards are my favorite thing with the ee's! mine are small right know but I can't wait to see what they will look like when they get their big girl adult feathers! That's to bad about your dog getting into those babies, but we do have to remember they are animals no matter how friendly they are to us. Unfortunately I learned that the hard way, I lost 2 of my girls to my own dog.
