Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I keep telling myself once my next order arrives, I have to set up my child-safe internet website block thingy so I can't get on this site or meyer's anymore. I have to find a way to end the craziness. LOL

This is the first full day I'm letting the little ones with the big ones. they have a pretty nice size space to get safe if they need to and they can also run back into their own run and coop but the big ones can get back in there as well. Fingers crossed!!!

This is day 2 for my integration. Yesterday, I tried to distract the girls by working inside the run, hand feeding them frozen grapes and supplying them a flock block. It seemed to work a good part of the time, especially when the EEs were in the coop. Today, I had to go into work so I was not there to run interference. From what I could tell, Boo and Belle (my EEs) did not venture out further than the coop ramp, today, after all the pecking and chasing they had yesterday. Last night, Boo slept on one of the shelves that I put in front of the windows so that the girls could see outside the coop. At some point during the night or early morning, Belle joined her there. I am hoping they get to sleep on a roost tonight and that the pecking order gets established soon! It breaks my heart!

My boy has been out there without his brothers for two weeks. The three boys would sleep in the dust bath bucket. He roosts alone in the run and usually flies from his spot to the ramp to get into the coop. He won't go near the girls BUT I'm finally seeing that he is letting his guard down a little. He's not quite as skittish with them. So it's been a total of four weeks that he's been out with them. Give it some time. I'm hoping in a few more weeks, my boy with be roosting in the coop with the girls.

Thanks. I guess it's like waiting for your hatch day and chicks to arrive. You spend the time leading up to it worrying that they will make it safely and that day can never come soon enough!!

I was so excited that Belle went from laying a 42g egg (just made it from Peewee to Small) to laying a 56g egg (almost large!) the next day.

Once I cracked it open, I realized why...

Today's egg will probably be small. The interesting thing is that I think this egg was fertile. It looks like a bullseye to me.

She must have been kept with a rooster before she was shipped to me. I could get another week of fertile eggs. Too bad I am not prepared to try to hatch them!
