Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I was so excited that Belle went from laying a 42g egg (just made it from Peewee to Small) to laying a 56g egg (almost large!) the next day.

Once I cracked it open, I realized why...

Today's egg will probably be small. The interesting thing is that I think this egg was fertile. It looks like a bullseye to me.

She must have been kept with a rooster before she was shipped to me. I could get another week of fertile eggs. Too bad I am not prepared to try to hatch them!

I love the yoke color! I still can't get over it.

Wow! Gorgeous eggs & gorgeous hens! Love the chick in the bathtub. So cute! What are you going to order next?

Cream Legbar. Olive Egger and Black Copper Maran. It will add olive eggs, blue eggs and the dark chocolate one So I will have all the variety of eggs. I love my chicks. I built a big and nice coop for them. I wish I had a farm but I live in the city :-(

Great pics! I love the dog and the eggs. I hope to mingle my dogs with the chickens someday. I'm more afraid the chickens will get over the fence after being chased by my dog and get eaten by something else. And those eggs are beautiful. I hope my marans and EE don't let me down. They should be here in two more months.

You know when I had my chicks inside the coop, my dog Fiona was going crazy and always trying to break in, but once I set my chicks free. Everything changed and Fiona started meeting one by one. I was afraid at the beginning but tried to keep calmed since dogs feel all that. After I supervised and made sure they are ok I could leave my chicks foraging with my dog walking around and nothing happened to them. I felt good cause my Fiona would protect them in case a cat or some rodent will attempt anything. Waiting is the worse. Just make sure you are ready for them once you receive them and I hope your EE will lay eggs of the color you wanted. I wanted green eggs and luckily she laid green eggs. So good luck

SOOO EXCITED!!!!!

I know this isn't Meyer related, BUT! I got a call from the Cream Legbar breeder...

His next clutch of eggs is hatching Saturday & he asked me if I wanted any from this one!!! I'm heading that way on Sunday with the small human and we are getting our pick of females!!!

WOOHOO!!!

They will be 2 weeks older than my Meyer's chicks, but I think that will be ok....

I can't wait to see pictures of that egg basket!!!! Did you place your order already? What is your hatch date?

I live on 5 acres with 30 acres of woods behind me. I have plenty of space but, unfortunately, I didn't listen to my husband and spend more money to buy a bigger coop! So, I am limited on the number of chickens I can have. Now, there are so many other breeds that I would like to get!! So, I will have to drool over everyone else's birds, including yours!

Now if Meyer's doesn't get an BLRW in for 7/14...I need to decide if I want an Australorp or a Buff Orp to add to my order to up the laying...or if I want to leave well enough alone.

Opinions?

5 acres? Wow. I would have every si gle breed. I moved few months ago to a bigger house but the house I used to live was bought for guys who didnt allow me to have chickens. So I moved my chickens to a place with a guy openning a nursery. They have more space and are really spoiled. So now living in a bigger house I tried to get them back but felt bad for these guys. They are very nice people and didnt want to do that to them. I sold my coop and my chicks

. Good thing I still go every friday to clean and visit them. Im pretty sure they recognize me. They are very tame and calm. Now Im planning to order the same thing plus the las 3 I mentioned to you but Im waiting for the new season since they are sold out right now. Hope I am lucky again this time. You should build an extension, buy some chicken wire and add more safe room for them

Here you see my coop in my previous place and then the new run for them at Their new place

We got both a BO and BA in our first batch of chicks. Our BO was mean! She would peck your hand really hard when you tried to feed her and she chased all the little ones and pecked them hard. We rehomed her with a friend and she is fine there (they don't hand feed). Our BA is very nice and a great layer. We have a little BO now (5 weeks?) and she is very sweet, follows me all over the coop. I don't think you can go wrong with either of these breeds overall (there are always bad apples in every breed). Just depends on what color you want. I love our BA's green shine.
