Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

They barely have poofs or combs yet...we still have a long wait I'm afraid. :)

Ok, I looked at them this morning really closely - both of their combs are barely starting to come in & they look about the same size. Brownies may be going back a little further, but it is not wider. I don't see any major difference in the size available for a comb either.

I guess it is possible that I have a dominant female (Brownie) who is just acting more like what I would expect a roo to act like. But I'm not going to hold my breath until either an egg drops or I hear a cock-a-doodle-do!

Another kind of waiting game. . .
Hey, I checked out the Urban Coop sight and saw that their coops are on sale $100 off the basic coop and $50 off each extension. It doesn't say how long the sale is good for. I wasn't sure if you were aware of the sale or if it would help you get your coop sooner. It looks like a really cool set up for a small space!

Pimaknits: maybe you have a few varieties there? The next to the last dark one looks a little different. Could be wrong?

So after 3 nights. My CM is still mean and broody. Even after being in the run all night with a storm! She was covered though. I think my 3 time broody PR maybe broody now too. Guess she did not want to be out done.

And sadly, my Blue Andulasion, Andi has vent gleet. She is one of the flighty ones too.
I'm adding garlic and ACV to their water now and I'll be giving them plain Greek yogurt hopefully daily soon. It's not too bad so I am hoping it clears up soon.
They say to keep them in a dry run to prevent gleet which at the time being I can't do that since our run is uncovered.
Sometimes chickens are such hard work. Can only complain to you guys since the DH will only say "well you're the one who wanted chickens." Can't complain too much about him either since he's already coming up with ideas to cover the run.
Nancy- Think that you asked me this awhile back. My splash blue Andulasion is one of the flighty ones but also is the most friendly of the 3 high flyers and is easy to catch.
Replying from my phone so I hope this post looks okay. My words keep changing with auto correct!

Fingers crossed for 2 girls!! They might be sad if you have to send one to a new home.

Oh, sheesh. That is a lot of broodiness for sure. It is a lot of work sometimes and my DH has the same answer. Try giving the vent gleet one a butt soak in epsom salt water. I did that once to Izzy and I thought she'd hate it but loved her spa day. Fell asleep as I blow dried her. it was so cute. I did give the yogurt also but not sure if it helped. I stopped giving it to my girls because they seemed to have really loose poo's when they ate yogurt.
thanks for the info about the Andalusion. I'll file it away for future orders

Sorry about your blue Andalusian. Should the whole run be dry/covered or is ok if only part of it is?

Yeah, I know about the sale...still saving my pennies! I did convince my step-dad to come for Memorial weekend to help set it up though. So that gives me more incentive to hurry up and get it bought!!! they usually do sales for all the major holidays, so I'm sure the sale will continue.

Fingers crossed for 2 girls!! They might be sad if you have to send one to a new home.
2 girls would be good, but I'm not betting on it!

But in other news - just got a text from the CCL chicken breeder! It said "Hatch day is going well - your chickens have hatched & we are a go for tomorrow"!!! WOOHOO!!!!

Awesome!!!! Are you going to put them in with the Silkies or separate?

I took some pics of little ones today... 10 weeks old...
Just for others if they see... these are not from Meyer...

Hate to play favorites but this is Eva (Zsa Zsa's sister) and she is quite the character... and soooo friendly!!
She loves to hang out on my arm and then ride my shoulder. They are both quite friendly and would recommend
this breed highly... so far!!

Below is their sectioned off area they hang out in and then venture out of

here it is from the inside view

Sneaking out into the big run... Leyla the EE on left, middle is Zsa Zsa and right is Lola the EE

Close up of Lola and Eva on rt.

Close up of Leyla

and her pretty feathers on her back... can't wait to see what she looks like

And my 2 CC from a local breeder .... I finally named them...
Bonnie Blue is in the back; she has a bigger crest and in the front is Skye
They are always together.

Bonnie Blue on left and Sky or rt

And of course Patty Patty or Just Pat... the Silkie of unknown sex
(why do they always look angry??)

This pic cracks me up because you can always find Patty Patty or Eva sneaking
into the big girl treat bowl... she got quite the peck when she was discovered

Heres my Meyer flock enjoying their flock block...

Here's Moe my cochin during her first molt looking so scrawny...

and my broody EE in the cage. thankfully she's done... for now.

They are all so cute. Eva is stunning! I guess we can't help having favorites. It still surprises me how attached I get to them. My little Pepper is so sweet. He jumped onto my arm twice today. I've heard so much of people having cuddly chickens, but I never thought I'd have one. And yet a roo!

A couple more things-
I started juicing a few months ago. I thought the girls would be more excited about the pulp. But today, I added some warm water to it. Oh yeah! They love it. I might even use it instead of applesauce in the next flock block substitute.

I also let them out of the coop for the first time. It's probably these pain meds giving me the courage (and causing excessive posting) but they are doing good. Since I put the dogs to bed at 8, I let the chickens out after. It should give them an hour before they are ready to go to bed. I know with 11 chickens, they will need free ranging time.
