Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

@notablenancy I love your flock now. What a variety! I need an Eva, so pretty. I had a false alarm with the 2nd one I thought was broody. She eventually laid her egg and hopped out of the nest box. Just me worrying too much again. Thanks for the advice on the yogurt, we don't need runny poop. If I can catch Andi I may try the epsom salt bath and maybe athlete's foot cream. I heard that helps?

Sorry about your blue Andalusian. Should the whole run be dry/covered or is ok if only part of it is?

When I read up on vent gleet they mentioned how being in wet areas could contribute to it and their run is always wet a lot with all the rain we've had lately since it just has a hardware cloth roof. The coop stays really dry which is good. I guess for chickens the dryer the better to stop any kind of contamination.

Oh, I might have found some AM pullets/hens! I'm going crazy here! Waiting to hear back from the seller. Definitely going to have to start planning the coop expansion.

Yay! My black boy might have a blue and a splash girl soon! Oh my! The excitement is too much. There is a member selling her flock of rare birds. No one really wants the common BBS birds. Lol just me!

Awesome!!!! Are you going to put them in with the Silkies or separate?
Well, I'm going to buy the coop with the extra ranchette...so there will be 2 roosting/coop areas. I figure if there are issues with the silkies being picked on, then I will be already set up to separate them. If there are no issues, then chicks can decide where they want to sleep or hang out...or I can use the other area as a intro pen/sick/broody pen, etc. Lots of flexibility. I'm hoping that they will all get along & be able to be together though, especially since the silkies are the oldest.

Good luck with that! It should go a lot more smoothly for you since they will be so young & close in age and shouldn't be too territorial. One of my EEs (Belle) has quickly risen to the middle of the pecking order, but, Boo (the white one) still cowers and can usually be found alone inside the coop or under it. Poor thing. She's too chicken to mingle with the others (pun intended).

They are all so cute. Eva is stunning! I guess we can't help having favorites. It still surprises me how attached I get to them. My little Pepper is so sweet. He jumped onto my arm twice today. I've heard so much of people having cuddly chickens, but I never thought I'd have one. And yet a roo!
Awww, so cute!!!!

My Maizey looks like LOLA
Any pics???

A couple more things-
I started juicing a few months ago. I thought the girls would be more excited about the pulp. But today, I added some warm water to it. Oh yeah! They love it. I might even use it instead of applesauce in the next flock block substitute.

I also let them out of the coop for the first time. It's probably these pain meds giving me the courage (and causing excessive posting) but they are doing good. Since I put the dogs to bed at 8, I let the chickens out after. It should give them an hour before they are ready to go to bed. I know with 11 chickens, they will need free ranging time.
That sounds awesome!!!

Isn't it fun letting them out to free range?? I'm getting a bit more daring and not hovering over them as much. I did have a hawk dive bomb but they all scattered under the bushes like they're supposed to!! Scared the heck out of me though.

Thank you!! So glad you don't have another broody. I just bought Oxine from from Amazon. I'm going to start using, unactivated, to spray on my shoes and use around the coop area. Sounds like it's safe and kills everything. Maybe it will help with all my strange things going on around here. It's pricey but will last forever! The barn I work at has chicks now so I worry about cross contamination and want to be more careful.

Quote: My run is about 3/4 covered but with the angle of rain/snow only about 1/4 stays completely dry year round. I think some needs to be uncovered just so they get direct sun for cold days but should have shady areas too for hot days. Dry would be great but we all do the best we can!!

Close up of Lola and Eva on rt.

Close up of Leyla

and her pretty feathers on her back... can't wait to see what she looks like
My EE, Ellie looks a lot like Lola too, I guess you finally got the typical EE look that you wanted. They sure are pretty! I had to comment about your EE, Leyla, she is the most unique one I have seen with that black beard but then lighter feathering and blue on her back. So cool looking.

Of course Zsa Zsa and Eva take the prize though. What kind are they again?

I can see why you would want to use the Oxine. I would be worried about cross contamination too.

It is a battle to keep things dry for them. I think the way we're set up that the run would still get a lot of sun even if the roof was covered since it is really tall. We had to increase the height on one end due to moving it to a slope. I have the opposite problem in the coop, I have to mist in there every week or so since it is so dry. Since I use the deep litter method it needs to have a tad of moisture to decompose. The coop smells fine, the run on the other hand does not, well when it is dry it is fine, but this rain almost every day lately. Oh well eventually will fix it. There is always something to fix or do, isn't there?

Ok, I must know. Is a white feather stuck to your claw a chicken's equivalent to toilet paper stuck to your shoe???
