Please help I don't know whAt to do with my hen. She's not been herself for several days
she's a 2 yr old golden comet. We picked her up and put her under the wood shed out of the rain and she stood there for 3 hours. I just brought her in and put her in a cage.Sorry to hear that. What are the symptoms? What kind and age?
I gave her a warm bath two days ago and flies came out of her bottom where her poop was stuck to her feathers. I cleaned her up and checked her belly she doesn't appear to be egg bound either. I didn't feel anything hard in her belly. She seems really light like she's loosing weight. Not eating much. I did throw some corn on the cob out last night and she pecked a little at it but wouldn't even eat breadShe's a

You will probably find more prompt help by posting a new thread in the Emergancies section than here but could it be fly strike? Her bottom looks clean and healthy since I bathed her thank goodness. But thank you for the info. I need to run to tractor supply to get some electrolytes or something for her water. I made her drink last night she doesn't seem to want to do anything. Normally I can't just walk up to her and pick her up they all kinda run from us but she just isn't doing anything. Is she able to stand or hold up her wings? One of our girls was laying around for a few days, not eating and was weak on one side. We think it was a small stroke or shock. She was recovered fully in a week, but the more info you share about her behavior either here or in a emergency thread, the more help you are likely to get. I hope she perks up soon. Do you have electrolytes you could put in water and dip her beak it, that seemed to help our girl.
Well a coon attack could certainly put her in shock. How was she acting before hand compared to after? Clara our EE who was laid up for awhile is similar, she hates being picked up or petted but for those three days she would quietly sit on our lap or in a box on a towel while I dipped her beak into water or pet her. She's back to being just as skittish as ever now. But yeah head to the TSC they should have some chick saver or something similar.I need to run to tractor supply to get some electrolytes or something for her water. I noticed her sitting in the nesting box the last 2 weeks thought she was broody. But this I don't think is her being broody. A raccoon grabbed her tues night I didn't know she was in the outside cage and not in the coop and a coon tried grabbing her right thru the fence. Ripped out some feathers and part of her comb but she was acting funny before that I just didn't realize something was wrong with her till the last few days
