Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

400

Well here is a little top view of the new 6 fuzzy balls. They are going to share the brooder with my week old EE I hatched out and my 3 week old black Isbar chick that was my only hatchling from 7 shipped eggs. The two older ones were actually frightened to death when I lowered the little ones in. The Meyer 6 started gobbling up crumble right away! 3 Buckeye, 2 Olive Eggers, and one Golden Buff

Cute! Do all three of your little Buckeye's have a stripe on their heads? Our one Buckeye chick didn't and "he" was acting aggressively and rooish so we gave him away at a swap to cut the drama. I did read the females tend to have the stripes.

Ok, well 2 out if three of them do, and the one that doesn't is lighter than the other two. Crappity Crap. I'm still not over my first flock mis sexed roo. He was a Columbian Wyandotte roo who was named Daisy but became Duke. Had to give him away to my handyman at 9 months because he just wouldn't settle. He was vicious!
Sure hope I don't have a roo here. Bleh.....

I have to say I love all the new babies AND my USPS tracking is updating regularly! Amazing! My little ones are actually about four hours away so I wonder if they will arrive tomorrow or Thursday. Still thinking Thursday. Can't wait!

I don't think it's actually a hard and fast rule with the Buckeyes. Our's was darker, but Buckeye chicks come in a range of shades and Meyer's are from a couple lines I believe. So fingers crossed for you. I didn't mean to make you worry, more I wanted validation for myself, sorry!

Meyer Salmon Favorelle hatched May 27. Crows every morning for me now. Was supposed to be a pullet... Oh well.

I have 4 total and 2 of the pullets are darker than usual. They say that's normal coming from a hatchery.
Bummer about the roo and the coloring. That is another reason I decided not to get a SF with our first batch. I would love to have a few of them, as I love their creamy peach colored eggs and their white fluffy faces, but that's one breed where for whatever reason the term "hatchery quality" is actually true :( The other reason is I feared they would be more noisy. But three french hens from a breeder will be in my future. Still very interesting looking birds, how are yours disposition? Hope the pullets lay you lovely eggs!

4 hours away I would think they will arrive tomorrow!!  :fl

I've been so focused on not worrying about them coming...I just realized I'm not ready! Oh goodness! Gotta get setup tonight, just in case. The only reason I think it will be Thursday is because they are at the hub where things always seem to lose a day. Plus my PO closes at noon on Wednesdays. Stupid PO. So even if they make it there, they will probably be waiting there until the office opens on Thursday.
