Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Hi all - I haven't dissappeared, just super busy at work! I've updated the blog a bit & I tried to post some pics last nite but the mobile site wasn't cooperating!

Here you go - my Meyers gals at 6 weeks! I'm pretty sure everyone is female at this point - YEAH!

Belle - GL Polish with a Cyndi Lauper do!

Doc McCluckins - still the bossy BO

Esmeralda - SL Polish, rocking a bigger mohawk & still a sweetie!

Flora - Blue Orp...she's going to be a big girl!

Pippa - BLRW - such a snuggler and oh so pretty!!!

Poppy - GLW - pretty skittish & peckish

Collette - BCM She was a very bossy one until the last week. I'm not sure who did it, but someone knocked her down a peg or 2 in the pecking order & pulled out some tail feathers. She has since mellowed quite a bit & now is one of the 1st that run up to me to get scritches. Her comb has grown a tiny bit, but no waddles.

The non-Meyer CCL are having more fun flying than sitting still for pics! The coop upgrades will be finished tomorrow & I will start painting this weekend!!! I'm kicking their butts outside next week for good! The run will be ready by Labor day too :)

Love Pippa's coloring! So pretty!

Yay pictures are working again! I have a whole album from this week: https://www.backyardchickens.com/g/a/6814860/chickens-19-weeks# But here is one shot of each of our girls at 19 weeks.

Amelia the lovely Golden Buff who looks ready to lay, but nothing yet

Clara the Easter Egger, love her little pea comb really developing now

Morgaine the Black Copper Marans

Victoria the Silver Grey Dorking

And of course Elizabeth aka Baby Buff the Orpington

Today we finally finished the nest boxes. They've been usable for the last two weeks but we added the siding on Sunday, then re-did the lid today, added the hinges and latch and a board on the front to act as a lip and keep the bedding in. I also found three nice thick branches and cut them to different lengths and nailed them up in a corner of the run. Will get pictured of those tomorrow.

They are really growing up. For some reason every time I look at or think about our BCM I think Moraine. Similiar to your Morgaine, so that's her name now.

Ok, How many BAD pictures does it to take to finally get a GOOD picture of your chickens? I must be doing it wrong! I can't keep these buggers still long enough to get decent pictures!

I'm happy to hear they finally arrived! I'm sorry about the BCM that didn't make it.

Have any idea what your MMM might be?
I was hoping they'd throw mw a bone and pop in a BCM cockerel . . . so much for wishful thinking !

Not sure what the MMM is - I'd better look at some chick pictures I guess. Have had to wash the bottoms of both BS Marans - they seem to be doing fine though.
Such a busy week !! I promise I'll get pictures of them today or tomorrow

This is the best I could do in the way of pictures today.
Sarsaparilla - cuckoo marans
400

Strawberry - speckled sussex
400

Eggplant - black ameraucana
Comb is still questionable. Not worrying too much yet.
400

Plum - lav orp
Pretty sure this one's a boy. Almost two weeks old and no tail yet. This comb is looking boyish to me.
400

Olive - light brahma
Also has no tail yet. Makes me wonder. And very slow feather growth overall.
400

400

And the older ones:
Peppy - black ameraucana
No crowing and still bottom of pecking order. Still a sweetie though. He's one week away from 5 months old.
400

Apricot - buff brahma
400

Kiwi - Delaware - laying her egg like a good girl! And Persimmon - RIR - still broody.
400

MIA: Pumpkin - welsummer. Won't stay still long enough for a picture.

Aww Strawberry looks like a little sweetheart. Cute chicks and love your fruit/food names. Pumpkin is just perfect for a Welsummer! Baby Buff would definitely be an Apricot if I went with a food/nature theme and Amelia would be Ginger. I wouldn't worry about any of them being boys yet, too early to tell especially with pea combs, I understand your concern about tail and feather growth though.

Because I love names and can't help myself, if you get more chicks in the future or need to renamed based on gender here are my top picks that you haven't used yet (Persimmon is my fave fruit name though).

Apple, Boysenberry, Cherry, Clementine, Currant, Elderberry, Fig, Gooseberry, Honeydew, Huckleberry, Loganberry, Lychee (good for a white or light chick), Marion(berry), Mulberry, Papaya, Peach and Quince! My great-grandfather's brother's name was Quince and his sisters names were Mable and Maude, I have a soft spot for all three names. I can't believe I didn't think of Huckleberry when you were asking for suggestions for Peppy, though I think Peppy suites him ;) Can you tell I like my berries? :) Maybe one day I'll have a flock of berries with lots of blue, black and mahogany colored breeds and some with speckles and lacing, lol.

oh I hear you... and then how about the bold ones who come right up to the phone or camera and peck at the little circle that takes the picture? Aggravating!
