Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Apple, Boysenberry, Cherry, Clementine, Currant, Elderberry, Fig, Gooseberry, Honeydew, Huckleberry, Loganberry, Lychee (good for a white or light chick), Marion(berry), Mulberry, Papaya, Peach and Quince!  My great-grandfather's brother's name was Quince and his sisters names were Mable and Maude, I have a soft spot for all three names.   I can't believe I didn't think of Huckleberry when you were asking for suggestions for Peppy, though I think Peppy suites him ;)  Can you tell I like my berries?  :)  Maybe one day I'll have a flock of berries with lots of blue, black and mahogany colored breeds and some with speckles and lacing, lol.

I just love these names! Quince is one of my favs too, but I got outvoted. DH thinks all of them are ridiculous, well except Plum, because that's HIS chicken. HAHA!

They are really growing up. For some reason every time I look at or think about our BCM I think Moraine. Similiar to your Morgaine, so that's her name now.
Interesting, I remember learning about moraine's we visited my sister at Glacier National Park :) And apparently there is a town in Ohio called Moraine as well. It has a French etymology :)

I can't resist posting some of my other favorites on my list:
Coconut
Cauliflower
Rutabaga
Sprout
Squash
Limabean

I was going to use Sprout or Squash for the little ex leghorn who didn't make it. And Limabean for the blue ameraucana. Oh well. I'm just going to put them on my list for spring.

Ok, How many BAD pictures does it to take to finally get a GOOD picture of your chickens? I must be doing it wrong! I can't keep these buggers still long enough to get decent pictures!
I went through this last night.lol. Trying to snap a picture of my EEs neck feathers. They're doing this weird twist!

oh I hear you... and then how about the bold ones who come right up to the phone or camera and peck at the little circle that takes the picture? Aggravating!
I have a BO that does that every single time....

Aww bummer, my hubby shot down my idea of Welsh names or an Arthurian theme, we had just finished watching the series Merlin when we got the chicks and I love Mists of Avalon. Really he shot down themes in general, he said to save it for when I have my own separate flock. So Morgaine, "my chicken", is the only one with a Mists of Avalon name. Amelia got named first for her bold personality and when my son heard that he just *had* to name his Clara (both Doctor Who companions).

My husband sat on the name Victoria for a long time before he told us, so then I chose Elizabeth for Baby, but we still mostly just call her Baby. My first thought was that she is named after Queen Victoria who favored the breed, but he said that's not what he was thinking of. My next best guess would be Victoria Beckham. My mom asked if it was after Victoria's Secret *snort*.

He did say about a week ago that maybe we can get a few chicks in the spring. But I need to get a job and find out if our son's Kindergarten teacher is one of the three that hatches chicks (there are 8 Kindergarten teachers at his elementary school, which still boggles my mind). He starts school next Wednesday.

Awww...I love Sprout..
X2!

I love hearing other people's names and am subscribed to several of the name threads, though I prefer it here as I feel like I "know" some of you and your flocks better. I also get a bit annoyed at the folks who comically name their presumably pet chickens after meat dishes, though admittedly Dumpling and Noodle are cute nicknames I just don't like the connotation, I shudder at ChickFilA and KFC. As far as food names go I mostly like spice and herb names though I created a list of classier egg dish names. I could see a flock with the head roo called Benedict and his hens Hollandaise, Florentine, Quiche, Tart, Meringue etc. maybe a second roo named Custard.

I've had better luck with this batch as far as poopy butts go.  Last time I had a couple that I had to keep after for about a week.  Not fun for me or the chicks!  :)
we did butt check on 28 birds every night for about 3 weeks. We had just a couple that needed more help, we used a Calendula Salve I had made. This helped them tremendously. I definitely don't miss the poopy butts!

Here are the names of our girls and boys. Not everyone has been named as we base their name (if we name them at all) based on personality and what seems to fit them. We don't have a theme either as you can see.

Roosters
Rocco
Rojo
Bruno
Little Red

Hens
Little One
Isis
Honey
Gretchen
Squeaks
Saffron
Nutmeg
Pepper
Pants - she got her name because when her feathers came in she got them on her legs/haunches first. Looked like she was wearing pants.
Left Eye
T-Boz
Chili

Umm, I do detect a sub-theme there at the end (TLC). No Scrubs for you....
