I swear I'm seeing bullseyes in some of my eggs! How in the world am I going to keep from expanding my coop AGAIN?!?! LOL!

I guess it happens, texted my bf mom the pic as she has chickens and she said she has three like that sitting in her fridge. Oh here is a pic of our babies.....the Buff Orph Roo is bottom left of pic, the more orange/buff color o give you an idea. I don't have individual shots of each baby as we had 28 total and that was too hard to try and tell them all apart was way too hard. They are something like 30 weeks now and a lot of the Barred Rocks and Cornish still don't have names.....they might never be named.@COChix that is the cutest, tiniest little egg!! How funny!
We have a Golden Laced Wyandotte and she is friendly and squats for us.Does anyone have pics of their Wyandottes from Meyer? Husband has said he wants to get chicks in the early spring, not started pullets. I'm thinking Welsummer, Speckled Sussex, either a SLW or BLRW and perhaps another EE for the boy or a Blue Orp... but the husband will want to choose one too... you can see the chicken math starting already, lol.
In our small flock news everyone's doing well, the girls are 30 weeks old and we are just waiting on Victoria to lay. Baby has been sitting on each egg she lays. I have to check on her periodically when she's in the nest box, she takes awhile to lay anyway but doesn't move once she does. So I have to lift her up, take her egg and then scoop her out and place her on the ground. It usually takes her a few secs, Morgaine sometimes comes over and pecks her and then she eats and carries on with the day. I'm just glad she doesn't go back into the coop, yet...
Beautiful Ladies, great assortment!Yay! 12 week update.
Olive-light brahma-she a calm, laid back bird
Eggplant-black ameraucana-looking cranky. I think it's the oatmeal in her fluff. She is a bold little thing. She's not afraid to go under the big ones to get to her treats.
Sasperilla-cuckoo marans- the biggest one of the little ones. I'm hoping her eggs will be close to the BCM eggs we've seen here lately.
Limabean-splash ameraucana-doing a lot of chest bumping today. I think she's the top of the little ones. She used to be one of the lowest.
Pumpkin-welsummer-such a cutie
Strawberry-speckled sussex-a very sweet girl
The older girls (a year old sept)
Kiwi-Dellie (alpha)
Persimmon-RIR-My meal maker who is finally laying again!
Apricot-buff brahma-Peppy's favorite and getting picked on a little. Still monitoring the situation before I do anything. You can see some comb damage here, but she was taking refuge in the coop.
Peppy-black ameraucana-7 months old. He has the colar on in this pic although you can't tell. Couldn't tell this morning with all the crowing either!

My GB lays a purple looking egg until I was it too. That's a great variety of colors in eggs, still no white or cream yet?My Cuckoo Marans egg wasn't that dark but it was the absolutely prettiest egg ever... sadly we had to put her down so I don't get her eggs anymore. They were brown but the bloom made them a shade of purple and each end was darker than the center... I could never capture it in a photo no matter what light I used. Silly me, I never thought to blow one out to save it.
It's the dark one on the far right but you can't tell from the pic how it was purplish. The other dark egg on the left is from my RIR.
Oh.... I just found this pic of the purple egg but still not great...

I have a Blue Andulasion- She is an odd chicken and the others pick on her.Blue Andalusians without a doubt. Cold and heat hardy, prolific white egg layers. The Blue is the standard but hatch percentages are 50% Blue, 25% Black and 25% White or Splash. I have five and they have given, and continue to give in the cold and rain, a Medium to Large white egg every day. A word of caution though. They are a Mediterranean breed and as such can be a bit snooty. The roosters, while absolutely beautiful, can be pretty aggressive.
So jealous!!!! We had one egg from 21 chickens yesterday. My son is visiting and we do not have any eggs to give.here is a shot of our eggs and you can see we get a few dark ones, I know they come from our Wellies and possibly a delaware. It is hard to know for sure who lays which egg with 23 girls laying......
I wouldn't mind having a BCM for the darker eggs, maybe even a white layer, although we get some really light cream color eggs so I am happy.
We won't be ordering from Meyer as we have roosters and incubators, I am sure to pull up a chair and watch all you crazies go for broke with your chicks ordering!![]()
Welcome to the thread and congrats on the chicks!. It does look like you have maybe a GB, BO or WR. I have had all 3. I also have had a RIR and you might have one of those. Those are familiar looking chicks to me. My brownish looking chick ended up being a PR.
Oh wow! Beautiful! I need one!
Oh no. I thought I had a broody but she must have given up early. It would be hard in the cold weather. I would probably do like you and just leave her.Soooo.... my Silkie laid a total of 7 eggs over a 3 week time period and she's broody... LOL
maybe someday she can be a good mom? I thought I could get some fertilized eggs from the place I chicken sit for when they travel
but their whole flock got eaten. AGAIN. Two times this year. Oh well, she's just going to have to sit because I don't have the heart
to stick her in the broody cage in the cold. Off to take her out of the nest and plop her on the roost.
What a cute egg. I had one like that months ago and it had no yolk.So cute and fun to watch! Glad they arrived safe and sound. We ordered two Buff Orph roo's with our pack and they were more of a buff color, less yellowish.....I will see if I can find a pick.
X2
Beautiful girls!
that was us, we got two Welsummer's from our pack of 25.
So I had to post this pic of what I found in the coop this am...
It was just under 10 grams......have no idea who popped this out, lol.
Beautiful eggs!!Yay, babies! Congrats! I would guess New Hampshire, it *could* be a Golden Buff, but mine have more distinct, thinner stripes on the back and a golden v on the top of her head.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Just wanted to share my eggs. I love Morgaine's deep purple tinted brown ones, she's laid three days in a rowIt is next to Amelia's the Golden Buff's big medium orangish brown which she faithfully lays every morning. Front and center is Baby the Buff Orp's pretty pink speckled one and the blue-green one's are Clara the EE. Clara was acting broody this morning. She made a big comfy nest in a huge mound of straw and was sitting on her egg and screeching at anyone who dared enter the coop. I can't blame her, its wet and cool outside. But I took her egg and scooped her off the nest and she hasn't returned. Baby has been sitting on her eggs everyday until I picked her up, then she was good, yesterday she got off the nest herself, so I'm not worried.
Ha ha...well when you have roosters.....I swear I'm seeing bullseyes in some of my eggs! How in the world am I going to keep from expanding my coop AGAIN?!?! LOL!
Wow...just wow...what a beautiful boy!!
X2! Thank you for sharing! I'm going to have a hard time deciding. The Andalusians are beautiful too!@LynnEBC those wyandottes are gorgeous!

So when my husband said "chicks" in the plural, he apparently meant just two chicks and thought I understood this. Three is my minimum, though I would prefer 4 or 5. He likes the idea of a Sussex, from watching Victorian Farm documentaries. Then we will have the three major English breeds, Dorking, Orpington and Sussex. I definitely want a Welsummer and need to decide between another EE, a RIR, Wyandotte, Partridge Rock or Buckeye.
2015 Meyer Catalog came out today, though mine wasn't in the mail.
Thank you. I will no longer get Andulasions, but I do like ours when they are laying eggs anyway. My blue one has been sickly at times but looks better now. They're just too flighty for me. The same goes or the Golden Campines, beautiful birds but too flighty. I am going to stick to the nice plump kinds from now on like the Wyandottes or Orpingtons. I will also probably always have some RIR's, Rocks and/or Dominiques.X2! Thank you for sharing! I'm going to have a hard time deciding. The Andalusians are beautiful too!

Very, very dangerous times!Hmmmm...these are dangerous times!! I'm trying to stick to 3 or 4.
Yes, I should have said that was a very old pic of my eggs. From last summer. I'll have to take a new one. My Brabanters are laying white eggs and my EE lays a huge cream egg but she's slowing down a bit I guess for winter. Today I got 8 eggs from 12 layers and 5 were green, 2 white and 1 brown! That's pretty typical of my egg basket these days. My youngest girls are about 14 weeks so hopefully I'll be getting more brown eggs around Christmas! We also had a Silver Laced Wyandotte with our first order that we lost in a dog attack. So far I have loved all 3 of these and still want another SLW since they are so pretty.

Do we get a vote? LOL... I say EE or SLW. EE's are always so much fun and great layers too!X2! Thank you for sharing! I'm going to have a hard time deciding. The Andalusians are beautiful too!
