Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I like your back yard, Autumnhearth. Not bad privacy for a narrow suburban yard.

I don't think you have to worry about paint fumes too much, since it's outdoors, with plenty of ventilation, and if you were worried about the nest box lid sticking, you could just not paint the two surfaces that touch each other. It's not like that part would show.

You have a nice size coop and run, and yes, I can see plenty of room for an addition!

Elizabeth seems a little more relaxed today. I think she's getting used to confinement. I might let her out for a little bit to walk around tomorrow, and see how stiff she is. Can't cover the dog run, it's this:

Lol, had to go back a ways to find a photo that showed most of the dog run fence! This was pre-chickens. I guess they are just going to have to learn not to go in with the dogs. The thing is, the turkeys go in the dog run all the time, and if I let the dogs out when they are in there, the turkeys are too big for the dog to hurt. I think what I'll do is start shooing the chickens back into the chicken yard whenever I see them go up on the fence. It was cute when they copied the turkeys and perched up there. But now it's not so cute anymore.
I see, very pretty! If there was one section at the end where they particularly hopped up I would suggest bird netting but that's a pretty long space and I imagine you want to be able to stand up in there.

The back part of our yard is pretty private in the summer with all the trees, we've got mulberries and grapevines by the coop. The front half, not so much, we have very low fencing. You can see the neighbors houses on both side and the bank across the street lol. Small college town, can't wait to get some acreage.

I lost a speckled sussex yesterday i think from the rain it got wet and cold and then trampled. But heres a few others

Finally got a pic of limabean's three babies! Did I mention she's sitting on golfballs again! And two of her little friends have tried as well, but thankfully given up! Stinkers!

The pics are a little dark, but I'm pretty sure the one on the left is a girl. Pretty sure the center one is a boy. And I change my mind about the third one every few days! I've heard with blue ameraucanas that a darker cape is a roo. The middle definitely has that. The one on the right is actually lighter than pictured, but not as light as the left one. Oh geez!

Here's hoping that I'm right and this one is a girl!

Well, if stupidity doesn't kill Elizabeth, then I think she's going to be fine.

I had her confined for about 5 days in order to make sure she got a good round of antibiotics. Only a few of those days did she seem stiff or sore, and I would let her out to mingle with the other chickens sometimes. I confined her longer than necessary, just for the meds. Then I let her loose, and gave the whole flock probiotics in their water. She's been doing great, and I was going to update that on here, except that I just now found her cowering under the daylilies in the dog run again! Seriously, Elizabeth, you went BACK IN with the dogs?!

Very few feathers out this time. I think the bloody pecks on the nose she gave the dachshund last time taught Liesl a lesson. So even though Liesl cannot resist her prey drive instincts, I think she learned to back off a little.

I checked Liz out and then threw her back over the fence where she belongs. No blood this time, although she did poop herself! She seems to be acting normal, so I'm not babying her. Stupid chicken!

Silly bird. I was thinking if there was a particular spot they hop over you could raise the height on that side by two feet with just some cheap plastic netting (even the kind used for construction) attach it to skinny poles and leave it a little floppy so they can't land on it.

So I was trading my neighbor eggs for jam like we do and she was commenting on egg prices going up, I know she gets conventional eggs too because they have a big family and we only have four layers. She was talking about dehydrating eggs again *shudder* Then she asked if my chickens step in their poop, well yeah it's pretty unavoidable, "well didn't you hear that's bad for them?". I told her I scoop up the poop in the run everyday and clean their nest boxes out. And I wipe off the eggs if there are any dirty spots (which is rare, maybe two in a dozen) before I give them to her, though she knows to wash them. *shrug*

So the little girls are 14 weeks old, no one looks near laying which I wouldn't expect them to. Snow the White Rock is probably the most developed, she has pretty pink wattles and a pink and yellow comb that looks so cute against her white feathers.

Don't have a lot of new pics and they haven't changed all that much from last week, still molting. But I did try to capture Pema's bald eagle look:

Fail but hilarious and partial success

Well....I have a little of a situation. My Delaware, Kiwi hasn't been acting like herself for a while. She used to be the top of the pecking order, but now seems to have lost that spot although I can't tell to who. Anyway, all the girls have some feather loss due to my boy Peppy. But Kiwi has been missing feathers on her butt too. She's not broody, but she also hadn't laid an egg for a few weeks. I don't feel any blockage. Now, I just came back inside from cleaning up a wound on her wing. I thought maybe Peppy was too rough with her, but I'm starting to think she is self-multalating. After cleaning her up and putting Blu-kote on it, she was pecking at it. I put her back in the coop but in the attached brooder area. She's not separated but she can have some quiet alone time there if she wants. I think I will consider expanding the run. Maybe the three little ones are causing her stress? Everyone else seems the same. Laying has slowed down because temps here are in the high 90s everyday. My poor girl...

:( Aww poor Kiwi. That's a tough situation, not knowing sucks. Expanding the run is always a good idea if you can.

I have ten new babies from Meyer, all arrived healthy and thriving. Don't have any really good pix yet but here are two Exchequer Leghorns with I think Columbian Wyandotte buddy in back. The leghorns are super cute and surprisingly bold little things.
