Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Ok, here's Pipsqueak/Sweet Pea 4 1/2 weeks old!

Not just tiny but so much less feathered than all the others.

Here's a few more just because they're so stinkin cute!!

Isabelle the EE

2 BA's Chug and Mamie

Cleopatra the EE and the largest of them all

Mrs. Puff the EE that's turning white!
It's crazy how they already look nothing like they did just 3 weeks ago!!

Okay, here they are!

The Frou-Frou bird, somewhat drier:

The partridge Plymouth Rocks, Fancy and She Who:

1000

1000

The speckled Sussex, Poggy--always the one to pose perfectly!

1000

And Iddy Biddy-bird:

1000

NotableNancy, Biddy-bird was just like your Sweet Pea / Pipsqueak as a chick. She feathered in much more slowly and always was smaller than the others. She's still the smallest of these five, but by golly she was the first to lay! :)

Oh thanks that's great to hear! Love the name Biddy-bird :)
These are your Meyer girls; do you have other chickens too?
And just a weird question... do you have to dry them when they get wet like that or do they just dry off fine by themselves?

Yup, I've got 32 hens in my main flock and only these five are Meyer girls. :) They dry off just fine on their own usually. I'll only dry them if it's really cold, just to be safe.

I have a picture of Biddy-bird next to one of the partridge Plymouth Rocks when they were around 5 weeks old. I'll see if I can find it for you. :D

Here we go:

I'm not totally sure on the age now. I'm thinking it may have been closer to 6 weeks..? Anyway, Biddy on the left, Fancy on the right. As you can see, she was significantly smaller even though I got them all as day-olds on the same day.

Wow, huge difference! Thanks for posting. Just out of curiosity, where is she in the pecking order?
I'm not concerned about the size so much, more about her staying warm since she is feathering so slowly. I hope she's getting a good spot at night under the heater. But she looks healthy and holds her own when it's time for meal worms and hard boiled eggs.

Well, because she was introduced into an established flock, she isn't the highest in the pecking order, but she's somewhere at the middle because she's knocked a few of the older girls down a peg or two (especially the Easter-eggers because they're wusses  ). For the most part, she's left alone. In short, no one messes with the Biddy-bird.

It took Biddy easily twice as long to feather in as the others. You can see in that size comparison picture that her face and neck still had fluff while the partridge Rock was totally feathered in. She did just fine, though I did wait a little longer on them before removing their heat lamp.

I like Freida. I was trying to come up with an idea for her like Fredricka but I like Freida or maybe Frida as in Frida Kahlo? Does she have big eyebrows??
Guess we'll stick with Freida, her eyebrows are not quite big enough to be Frida Kahlo

pipz: What a big difference in those chick sizes! They did turn out so pretty once they finished growing.

Nancy: here is a pic of Fred/Freida at almost 4 weeks as you can see she is behind the rest in feathering. My poor SLW was in a very ugly stage in this pic.

My EE's now are so different in coloring, they are so much fun to watch and see the changes. I'll have to get some new close ups of them to show you.

So funny!! I like when the little ones can hold their own and big ones are wussies!!! When they finally move out to the coop I'll move the Ecoglow out with them so if she needs it she will have it.

I didn't want to ask for fear of you think I'm stalking you EE's but I'd love to see new pics

Who knows, our EE's could be relatives!!!

I feel lots better, my CW looks about the same stage as yours; maybe just a week or so behind. I assume she'll be just fine and hold her own.
