Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Same. Every batch, no matter what. I didn't get rooster paranoia as bad last year because those five were pretty obviously girls (there was a time at which I suspected Biddy-bird was a boy, but it passed--funny thing is, now she crows before laying her eggs  ). I'm getting it a little now with my Ancona, too. Maybe it's just an Ancona thing? :fl

at least i'm pretty sure i have them id'd correctly...

So I'm thinking of changing my order and switching one of the polish for either a Orpington, ee or Campine. I have 2other polish 1 sultan and1 partridge Cochin on the order that would be added to my flock of 4 silkies that i have now. Any thoughts on which one would work better with what I have?

Well the Colombian wyandotte is walking alot better today! It is one of the two smallest chicks and has no trace of wing feathers yet, but it seems like alot of our CW's are like that. I looked back and both Nancy and Lynn said that about theirs... I wonder if it's the breed?

Congrats... they are adorable!!!

I have looked a lot on this site and have seen several other people posting pics of their CW's with extremely slow feathering. I'm not sure where theirs are from so i don't know if it's Meyer's issue or the breed. My CW is 10 1/2 weeks and looks like a 5 week old! I do see some feathers starting to come in on her back and she is the smallest but not horribly small. She is def. the lowest in the pecking order though. AND still afraid of me because of how much I had to torture her with vitamins, butt wiping etc. But she's still a cutie pie :)
Do you have Nutri Drench or baby vitamins for her? I think it helped my Pipsqueak survive; she seemed very near death at about 4 days old or so.

We got a columbian wyandotte from Meyer and she was smaller than the silkies. She grew up to be a decent size but she lays the smallest eggs in the flock.

My CW looks really beautiful now at 14 weeks, she did take longer to get wing growth but I think Nancy's took even longer. I wouldn't trade her for the world. She is one of the lowest on the pecking order, but she also is one of the few that do not bother my new 3 week old chicks. She is kind of a loner too. That's a good question, maybe it is the breed. I hope your's keeps improving.

Don't feel to bad, my CW does not like to be petted or touched and is very skittish around people. She's a little better around me, if I keep my distance. Maybe a breed thing too?

I am glad to hear the good reviews on Meyer. I have an order coming in June - Buckeyes, Dark Cornish, Deleware, White Leghorn and Dominique. They are cute as chicks but I get more excited when they start growing up and out of the baby stage. I like to see what they are going to look like as adults. I am most excited thinking about getting the eggs out of the hen house! lol

All of my chickens will eat out of my hand but many won't let me touch them and often wonder if it's because I had so many at one time I couldn't pick them all up every day. That's probably my only regret; that I couldn't get several smaller chick deliveries with a month or 2 in between them so I could give them all lots of individual attention. But I don't have any easy way to introduce them slowly so I got them all at once. But I do hear they sometimes get more friendly after they start laying and even saw it with one of my neighbors EE's. She wouldn't pay anyone any attention until she started laying. Now you can pick her up! Only Mo my White Cochin likes to be held and pet. My BR, BB pullet and Cuckoo Marans follow me all around and climb all over me and sit on my shoulder but don't like me to hold them. Like it's on their own terms.
I still have to get current photos but it's supposed to rain again today/tomorrow!! Maybe Monday!
