Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Well, they are in their own fenced-off area of the coop, so kind of yes. Ah, I'm so going to miss waking up with those little ones. I have to keep reminding myself that they're just a short walk out in the coop.

...Time to start browsing the Meyer Hatchery website...

Oh no... Our landlord hired a different guy to mow our lawn, and he sprayed weed killer all over the driveway, the barn, and the garage! By the time we found out he was spraying weed killer he was already finished. It was Roundup weed killer. I closed up all of the chickens for now until I can find out if it's safe.

My chickens spend all day picking through the gravel driveway for grit, and I have a few hens who love to eat the grass around the barn and garage. He sprayed the weed killer about an hour ago. I'm really afraid to let any of them out. Is it okay to? I started a thread to see what some other people on BYC thought and nobody is responding. :/

Just asked my fiance, he said either keep them off the lawn for a week or until it rains (if that's sooner). He works with chemicals all the time being a farmer. Good luck with your chickens, keep them occupied!

Nancy what's her name?
Are you talking about my Marans? Sorry, i'm getting tired and can't follow the thread right tonight.
If you are, it's Junior. I let my 16 yr. old son name her and my cochin. He named her Junior after a special needs boy at his school who is so friendly and knows almost every kid by name in the high school or tries to learn them. and there's about 1200 kids! He gets such a kick out of Jr. he wanted to name her after him. That's funny you asked because today I was thinking about her and her name and if he hadn't named her that, I don't know what she would have been. Jr. just really fits her.
And if you weren't asking, well, now you know

Your welcome :) I hate it when stuff like that happens. Last year the harvested wheat field my coop was in got sprayed with weed killer and I wasn't told so I didn't move the coop, luckily it wasn't windy so there was no drift. I was SO nervous about the safety of my girls until I could see that the sprayer operator left a 20 ft gap between the coop and his first pass.

That must have been terrible.

When I was young we lived next to a large field and we had a horse pasture that was right up at the edge of the field. One day they came and sprayed weed killer in the fields and it got into our pasture. We had to keep the horses closed up for weeks! It wasn't fun. Weed killer is nasty stuff if you're a farmer/poultry raiser.

I'm sorry you gotta keep them locked up that long. But hey you have a excuse to get more chicks so you can try that pen you built!

and I love his name, so cute! Maybe you can dig up some grass/dirt that hasn't been sprayed. That's something that can help keep them busy. And if you dig a hole big enough you almost got yourself a small pond and if you have a pond you might as well get ducks!

There's a prime example of chicken math for you! lol

Congrats on the egg! Glad to hear the creek went down.

Yea I'm talking about the Marans. That is such a cute story, and such a sweet kid! Too bad all kids can't be nice like that. I really like the name too.
