Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I need moral support right now, I lost 3 white rocks, a buff orp, and a buttercup over the last 2 days and now my precious little lavender orp is panting even though its not too hot in the brooder! I took her inside , put her in a nursery brooder with cool vitamin/electrolyte water. She stands or sits panting and keeps her eyes closed unless she starts walking or gets up

Oh I would hate to loose her! :'(
Oh no. I'm so sorry.

Such a helpless feeling when they are like that. Do you have baby vitamins or Nutri drench to give her?

Well, 7 eggs yesterday but not 7 today... not 8.... I got 9!!!!
yesss.gif

here's a pic.

I'm not positive but I think the small darker brown one on the right is Juniors.
The largest at the bottom is Cleo's (clean faced EE) and I'm pretty sure the large one above Cleo's and to the
right is Mrs. Puff the EE. The darkest on the left I think is one of the RIR's. I sure hope none of them are my
last EE or I'm gonna have a kinda boring egg basket. But it gives me something to look forward to.. maybe
a couple more chicks next spring?? I want a white leghorn, brown leghorn and 2 more EE's but we'll see.

One of my eggs was in the run and it was kinda small so I'm wondering if it came from one of my BA's.
I took some pics cause it seems like their wattles/combs aren't big enough yet but what do i know.
Can you all take a look and see what you think. I've never seen them in the nest box or heard them making
any kind of egg song/chatting noises but neither does Pipsqueak or a few others.

and since I had my camera here's an update (almost 23 weeks old)

If one of the BA's didn't lay the egg then it has to be my last EE or the Buff Brahma but I don't think they mature for quite a while yet. Anyone have a BB and if so, when did they lay? I'm to busy around here this weekend so I'll have to play detective next week to figure it out!! That's part of the fun

I saw clear snap apart egg cartons on the Meyer Hatchery website for .42 cents each. Someone on here wanted clear cartons, so I thought I'd mention it. I seriously need to stop looking on that website!
Thanks I was looking... I'm on that site all the time too. Just looking and wishing

I hope that the little Lavender Orpington pulls through.

I
Thank you, I've never lost that many before. I have them all on vitamin water and keep a good temp in the brooder. Oh its so sad.
It is so sad and hard to lose them. Especially that many! Praying your little lavender pulls through! Keep us posted .

Yay! It is so much fun when they start laying. Beautiful girls you have

I add a little water to my egg mixture and get it super fluffy before cooking, not sure if that helps.

My mom's been in the hospital this week, she is good now, bad case of vertigo. Anyway just dropping in to try to keep up with you guys. Great distractions on this thread!

I hope your mom is feeling better. Sometimes the docs can't figure out why someone gets vertigo and eventually it goes away. Must be an awful feeling.
I've been thinking about switching my cuckoo for a welsummer or black copper. I already have a golden cuckoo on that order and I'm trying to get darker eggs.

I would switch to a bcm if you could. I hear they lay nice dark eggs. I think the CM is iffy.

I REALLY want both the bcm & welsummer but I already have 6 on my order after I'm done getting rid of the cm & 2 extra polish from my last order. My husband thinks we are only getting 4 more and he wasn't thrilled about that! So idk how I'm gonna explain 4 extra chicks. Plus he thinks I got a "free shipping coupon" and it's only costing like $20, I was hoping he wouldn't notice the $60+ difference :D And I LOVE izzy, She is prob my fav chicken! & your BA's are so pretty, making me want one! I have 2 more EEs on my 9/30 order. I love how its like a surprise, you never know what color your gonna end up with or what color egg they will lay. What age did yours end up getting their adult colors? Is it me or do some of your eggs look pink? I love your egg tray btw, I'm looking for one but haven't found one I really like yet.

I am so glad I'm not the only one lol. We got 16 chicks on our last shipment and 2 died so I told mine that they were sending me replacement chicks and it wasn't safe to ship less than 15. He doesn't seem mad but wants to know why I need 30 chickens. He also thinks we aren't paying for the new shipping

I am so sorry for your losses. I hope the lavender orp pulls thru. So many at once, so sad.

9 eggs in one day!!! Yay!!! Congrats! and of course they are beautiful. Looks like a couple double yolkers there too!

I love seeing your chickens, all are so pretty. I've been using your pics to show my husband what ours of the same breed will look like when they are older. The BA's are so pretty! So glad I have another one.

I hope both of the Cuckoo Marans that I have are girls. We named one "Cuckoo" (not very creative there) The other name we are working on, but right now I want to wait to make sure she is not a he, since a "he" will not be kept. Junior is beautiful!

Thank you, she is, we've had a crash course in vertigo this week, not fun. Everyone thought she had a stroke, so we are happy that it was vertigo.

I want a BCM in the future too. It is hard getting the husbands to agree with our chicken endeavors. Maybe we do need them though to keep us from getting too carried away!

I so agree with the EE's. My new two chicks are 3 weeks on Monday and they are starting to get some of the multi colored feathers in on their chests, so far both look like girls. It is strange one was chipmunk coloring and one was solid brown, but now they are starting to look more alike then ever. The legs are changing to green too. It was like overnight.

My husband has been awesome lately. I had to help my mom a lot this week, going to the hospital and her place, etc. He has stepped up and has made sure all the chicks and chickens are okay. We had just moved the chicks to the coop the day before she went to the hospital, so this is a crucial time for them. He really has been such a great guy to take over my chicken chores. He even goes out and sits with them and has been training the little ones to jump on his hands for treats. Such a great guy! Sorry, had to brag. It's been such a stressful week, so it was great to have help. My daughter has helped so much this week too. I usually do everything, so big relief for me.
Here are my chicks from Meyer this year - about 3mo old in this pic: 2 SLW, 2 Welsummer, 1 Barnevelder, 1 Golden Campine and all appear to be pullets as ordered.

Nice flock you have there and variety! You should have eggs soon and a variety of colored eggs too.
