Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Hello all, Just got my chicks from meyer hatchery on wed!! All are doing well!! I ordered from them last year and all of those are doing wonderful and laying eggs like crazy!! This is my hatchery of choice!! I have ordered from several others and didn't have great luck with them. So I def recommend Meyer!!
Yay!! Yup... we need pics :)

I'm pretty excited, I think I may only have 1 BLRW rooster! I was thinking a week ago that both of my splashes were males, yay!

I will have update with pics later, its been horrible weather up here in MI. Rain everyday with wacky warm to cold weather and tornado warnings.
Did you hatch the BLRW or from Meyer as straight run? I keep forgetting about the BLRW, I may have to add them to my want list. Can't wait to see updated pics when you can.
Those tornadoes sure are scary looking... Stay safe!

Thanks so much for looking!!! I am pretty handy and I am sure my husband has some more plywood kicking around. I am sure I can make some kind of structure for them. You definitely gave me some ideas.

You're right, if I make or find something decent, I can use it again if I have to quarantine for any reason. I might check out a Re-Store (habitat for Humanity store) that just opened in my area to see if they have anything that I can use. I want something I can reuse that is cheap or free, not too much to ask for, right?
Wish me luck!
Love cheap or free. Pallets may be the way to go or finding something you can repurpose would be great. Good luck and have fun!

Finally let the chicks out into the run. My son had to shoo a few out, but, once they got outside, they loved it! The "rooish" acting Delaware was the first one out.

It's going to be tough getting them back in!

So pretty! How old are they? they look so mature.

Lol. My Dellie acts like a roo too. She's the bossiest and definitely the alpha. She's the first to do everything and the most fearless. I wonder what she'll do when my boy gets bigger!

This is my 100th post & I had to come to this thread to make it! I have to say that I consider you my "friends" in here - the Meyer's group! Thanks for welcoming me & giving such great advice...as well as enabling me, commiserating, and encouraging me to hit refresh a million times a day on the Meyer's webpage!!!

I still have a little less than 2 months before my little peepers come home, but I know you all will be holding my hand and helping me through the wait!

HUGS!!!!!

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend everyone!

And - POST 100!!!!

Thanks! They were so happy that they did not want to go back into the coop. 10 did go in on their own and then I had to round up the other 12! The last one in was a Delaware, of course! They are so independent. Trying to catch the little ones was a real task. I am so glad no one was filming me! LOL

They are getting big - they will be 9 weeks on Monday. It's funny that they look so big to me, but, I went with my son on a coop tour today in Westport, CT and cannot believe how much bigger they will still get! I will tell you that I went on this tour thinking that I was going to see some elaborate coops at huge homes. Instead, we saw coops that were much simpler and smaller than ours. But, we met a lot of really nice people, who obviously enjoy keeping chickens and sharing their passion with others, and the settings were so serene. It was such a beautiful day to spend with my almost 21-year old son. It just reinforced that this is the lifestyle for me! Obviously, you all agree or you wouldn't be on this site. Thank you all in the "Meyer Hatchery" forum for sharing your enthusiasm!

Glad you got them all back into the coop! They are getting big! I can't wait to get mine and be able to see them grow week to week!

It sounds like you had an amazing day. Spending time with your kiddo, enjoying chickens with others, seeing other people's set-ups - it makes you appreciate all that you have! Tomorrow my small human is going to "help" me finish (or at least get another big chunk done) the brooder. He's as excited as I am.

I ended up taking the Buckeye to the swap this morning. I was standing near the front of the store by the registers waiting for the coordinator to come up and started talking to a teenage girl who wanted to see him, she peeked inside and he flew up onto my arm, a minute later a man walked in, asked what I had and said he'd take him. I didn't even make it into the swap! I guess its a good thing as I only had an hour and a half that I could be there (crazy busy weekend with family). But honestly I was kinda in shock for the rest of the day, it's like okay...

The teenager immediately asked him what he was going to do with him, he said he was going to put him with his hens and said "I'm not going to eat him, I've got white birds for eating". So that little roo is either in for a great life with his own harem or perhaps a rude awakening when he tries to boss hens four times his size. Hopefully they put him in check quickly and teach him some manners. I wish I had asked the guy more questions, but he didn't seem like the type to wax poetically about his flock. I totally cried on the way home even though I know our flock will be more peaceful without him, the brooder is so much more quiet tonight. I feel guilty I couldn't provide him a good home and anxious that I don't know what kind of environment he is in. Still I wish him a happy life with the hens.

It sounds like you made the best decision for your family & your flock. You know he's not going to be eaten & he's with another established flock of older hens. At least this way he has to prove his "manhood" to those old hens!

I know its hard, but don't let guilt get the best of you. You can't have a bully rooster! It's not good for anyone. If you still want a roo, wait a little while and then get a roo chick. A age difference and a different breed might make a big difference...but I understand that you are grieving tonight.

Aw...I understand. I feel the same way about my three little boys. I guess that's why I'm so hesitant about the guy who wants them. He hasn't quite passed the "interview process" yet. If you were close to me, I'd be happy to let you have one of mine.
