Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Yeah, I'm getting a little nervous about all the chicks!!! Chicken math certainly got the best of me! I need to hurry up and get the coop figured out! I found plans for a beautiful coop - might be cheaper to have a local person build it than to buy a kit...checking out that angle now

Tonight we found a guy who makes coops out of sheds: http://louisville.craigslist.org/grd/4532269073.html

I would cut a hole in the door and add hardware cloth to it & the window for more ventilation.

Going to call & see about delivery options. Fingers crossed that this is a viable option financially! It would be a lot easier than trying to put something together.

I can get a 10 x 10 chain link dog run pretty cheap & then add pavers & hardware cloth to predator proof. Not sure what I want to use on the top to keep hawks/owls out - maybe chicken netting?

I can make a PVC pipe pellet feeder very easily & propably figure out some sort of trough for fermented feed as well. I have the chicken fountain for my watering system. I've staked out 2 areas in my backyard where it will all fit - I'm going to completely enclose everything in the run & am going to get real locks for the gate, egg area, coop door, etc because while racoons, opossums, and fox are a fear...bored teens are also a threat.

That's a nice looking coop and good price too! So much to think about. It sounds like you have great plans for everything. Eventually it will all come together. It'll be exciting to see your progress and what you decide on. Best of luck!

My crate is set up with an old shovel handle to perch on, sand, food, and I will add electrolyte water when I have a better idea of their arrival. The new girls should be headed this way tomorrow. I'm beyond excited. This never gets old!

My babies had a trip outside today, which they were less than enthusiastic about. Here's all 7 of them on my lap, because the ground was just too scary for them! (And yes, one of them had an 'accident' right on my lap. )

The babies from Meyer are 7 weeks old today, so here's some pictures!
