Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I now have 5 laying! I got the cutest eggs from my Dominiques, today. Melissa laid her first the other day and second today. Desdemona laid her first today - only 20 grams! Is there a class smaller than Peewee? If so, that was it! They have to be 43 grams to be considered Small! Belle, my older EE, lays eggs that are about 45 grams now. I hope hers will get bigger, but, she has already been laying for 6 weeks. How long before pullet eggs get to be larger?

Sad news, I buried a chicken, today. One of my BRs had sour crop and, unfortunately, died overnight. So sad! She looked so peaceful when I found her this morning on the coop floor. My largest BA, Andre, had it too. She is doing much better, though. I think they both ate a little too much grass and not enough grit. Either that or it was the layer pellets that I just started them on.

So sorry to hear about your loss :(

Great news about the eggs though! Pics when you get a chance?

Thank you. I just took a photo of our eggs. 3 are from yesterday and 5 from today.

The largest ones are from golden buffs. The green are from Belle the EE and the tiny ones from my 2 Dominiques.

Aww, that's sad. I went through the same thing. I think I was feeding too many scraps with big pieces of vegetable skins. My girls don't seem to touch the grit that's available, but I guess they will if they need it. And I had to order another light brahma to replace the one I lost. I can't wait to have one again.

Here are our new babies!

Buff Orpington number 1, to be named "Buffy."

This little girl is still unnamed. Buff Orpington #2.

Barred Rock. Sweet girl.

Our meal maker chick - she is probably an Australorp, but we're not certain.

This chick is supposed to be a barred rock, but has unusual markings. Not sure!

We had a visitor during our free range time. Have a super cute video of Little One (an EE) went over and investigated it.

I have a dilemma...

Of my 2 buff silkies, 1 is definitely male (9 weeks old, waddles already). The other one has all the characteristics of a male & the comb is suspicious, but no waddles showing.

Another breeder just contacted me saying he has a 1 yr old definitely female that is available for sale. If I re-home my boy silkies (can't keep boys in my urban setting), then I will end up with no silkies at all...but the coop isn't finished yet. This silkie is a definite female. Also, there is always a chance that one or more of my new babies is sexed incorrectly (hopefully not).

Hmmm...what to do!
