Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

We hatched 4 silkies and they all turned out to be roos. :( Gotta try and get a hen soon so she'll be ready for breeding this spring.

If the silkie roo doesn't go to a home within a month or two maybe we'll try eating him. I just can't get over the black skin and stuff.

He'd better be!

They are bantams. Smaller than a silkie. Our's is a Mille Fleur (MF) but they come in other colors also. My friend has a lavender one and a MF.

Here is a recent pic (1 1/2yo), she was broody and all fluffed up. I don't have a recent full body shot because she just got over molting.

Here she is with our other chickens last winter (makes me miss our BR)

And here she is on her own. As you can see she got a lot more white as she got older.
She is sooo adorable/beautiful!!!

I would definitely get D'Uccles again. She is the sweetest chicken. You can walk right up to her and pick her up. The roosters are picking on her right now so she stays in the coop most of the day. I made sure she ate and drank this morning.

We locked up Dinner today in the grow out pen. I'm going to try feeding him buttermilk soaked grains like they do in France with the Bresse. Then Sat I'll take the food away, Sat night take his water away, and Sun he'll become his namesake.

X2.... didn't get a true blue egg this time so there's always next!! Gotta have something to look forward to. I still have never had a white egg! One of my Brabanters squatted for me for the first time today so hopefully my first white egg in a week or 2. Wanna take bets they lay cream colored eggs and not white??
That's pretty funny that you have not gotten the most common egg color yet. We've been short on white eggs too since all the white layers were molting, but some are starting back now.

That's what scares me too about hatching. I better getting the culling the extras into my game plan if I want to hatch at all. Maybe I'll have that all figured out once the grandkid(s) are old enough to appreciate hatching chicks.

She is the cutest chicken ever and fun size too! How big is her egg?

@rnchick74 I did it, I bought me a fountain from The Chicken Fountain! I got the mega one since I have 21 chickens. The warmer rods are already installed for winter but I need to get the heater for it still. I hope that it is not too pricey.

Now to figure out where it goes. This mega one is 5 feet wide, so I need to figure out a good spot. I'll post pictures once it is set up.

Hopefully they'll catch on quick and figure out how to use it. I have some a little too curious chickens so, I think that they will.

I picked it up since I lived close, very nice people and family run business. I love to buy local and support local businesses so it was nice to find someone nearby. Now if I could find a local source for organic chicken feed, that'd be even better.

WOOHOO!!!! I can't wait to see your pics!!! That's awesome that you got to go pick it up in person too!!! They are awesome after the sale - questions, just shoot an email!

I also cannot wait to see the chicken fountain! My "homemade" one is not leaving me 100% satisfied. I wouldn't mind upgrading next year ;)

My Pepper is finally starting to hang out with the girls. Still no crowing (not that I'm complaining). They definitely don't pick on him as much. But I think that's just because he doesn't act as scared. He'll be six months old on Sunday! Maybe he'll mature by the time the six week olds are laying LOL. I just love his beard. I'd post a pic BUT my stupid phone won't do it since the upgrade. Blah!

Finally it has been fixed! There's Peppy and his beard

They are really nice. Since they are local, I was thinking of seeing if they have ideas for places to get feed and chicks too. You would think they would know since they deal with chicken people all over and have their own too.

The mega fountain is huge, it is 5 feet wide, so I have to find another spot to put it then the original one. I hope we can get it up today.

I'd recommend this one for sure. It is designed very well and he seems to have thought of everything. Hopefully the chickens use it.

I love that beard and those poofy cheeks! Are you positive he is a he?
