My Meyer welsummer lays a normal brown egg. About the color of a store bought brown egg and about the same (sometimes a tad darker) than my BA egg. Definitely not as dark as I'd hoped. She is on the list of possible-to-rehome if I need to make room for more girls.
Well, either way, my girls are pets so they're all here to stay. 
Still, really hoping for nice dark eggs from the BCMs at least! 
Yeah - you don't want to use ACV in warm water as it alters the Ph of the water too much...but now it should be fine. In the warm water you can use Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE). It will be a little $$, but it is thick and only a few drops (15 per gallon if memory serves) are needed. It doesn't have the probiotic action that ACV does, but it is an excellent anti-viral and natural antibacterial...some think it might be a wormer as well, but I haven't seen any good scientific literature showing this effect.
They are both gorgeous!I love my Marans. There's something so attractive about those black spots on that Austra white, though. Don't worry about the name--I have a Wyandotte I call Lady Wyandotte because nothing else fit.
I'm guessing Aurora isn't laying yet? I'm wondering what color she might lay. Hopefully a nice, dark brown! My Meyer splash Marans, Frou-frou, lays a pretty basic brown egg, even a little lighter than some of my other brown eggers. She only lays about 30-40 bantam-sized eggs a year, though, so maybe it's just her. I got my two Black Coppers and my Welsummer with the hopes that I might get some nice, dark eggs.If they all deliver, as well as Poppy laying a nice, blue egg, I'll have the coveted rainbow egg basket at last!
Yeah, that's not very good advertising... But at least they are honest. I think the Austra Whites are supposed to lay light brown eggs (which, looking at egg color genetics, would make sense when crossing a brown egg layer with a white egg layer).
Yup, I definitely think at least that part is just Frou-Frou. She lays a few eggs here and there over the spring, and then in the summer she lays about 6-8 eggs a month, usually in week-long bursts. I dunno, she's odd. She also has bad eyesight and still kind of honks like a teenager rather than clucking.
This is a Frou-Frou egg, by the way, the one in the center. The one on the right is a Sebright bantam egg, and I think the one on the left belongs to my Silkie, Marge, but I don't remember for sure.
My Meyer Partridges are lovely! They lay pretty well, not as well as White Leghorns or Red Sexlinks, but not as poorly as fancier breeds like Polish. They are not particularly touchy-feely birds like the Dorkings or the Marans, but walk right up to me and will let me pet them. When they were younger, they would hop in my lap, but they grew out of that.But they're sweet and so pretty!
