Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I'll usually keep 7 or 8 big roosters for free range protection. And then I'll have some ill keep for breeding. Others I either give away or go to freezer camp :)

I keep two and a quarter roosters since ones a serama. Lol since anymore foxes eat them or peoples dogs.

I know these aren't Meyer chicks, but they might show up from time to time in my photos

, so I wanted to introduce them:

Maleficent and Maid Marian:

They are Black Langshans that I made a four hour round trip yesterday to get them, from a show breeder south of Bloomington, IN.

Cute cute cute!

I didn't post any six week pics of our chicks. These are from yesterday so in between 6 and 7 weeks old.

Snow (Snowflake) the White Rock, she's gotten much more friendly in the last week

Cora (Cornelia) the Welsummer on the other hand has gotten less friendly. She doesn't like being picked up (perhaps because of her growing feathers, her body is very hard and rough to the touch right now from all those quills). She will lunge out to peck my husband, hard. Not the curious pecks of her sisters.

And of course the Light Brahma is the most friendly. My husband says he thinks he has a name for her, but he's not sharing until he's sure, he doesn't want any input :/

She was so cute yesterday, I had my cheek up against her body, snuggling an when I pulled away she got these big sad eyes like why did you stop?

Forgive the picture quality but I love her big Bahma pose

They're growing up, and looking very pretty! I need to go take update pics of mine. It's amazing how fast their wing feathers grow in!

Hello Meyer family!

Hello, so got my Ovascope last night and was able to candle. Used my iPhone for the shots. Again I picked up 14 eggs from another member of BYC for hatching.

PC's - clears

PC - Fertile

our eggs clears and early quitter

Fertile - still super hard to see into the dark eggs and the green very much. Just selected the better photos.

Lockdown is today and here are the stats.

We have 28/42 heading into lockdown.

From PC's eggs -
2/14 fertile - blue eggs should be Amerecauna's

From our flock
26/28 fertile - our whole flock is from Meyer.

15/15 of our BO x EE were fertile
11/13 of the BO x our brown egg layers
1 clear
1 early quitter

OMG, I cannot believe this! I am so eggcited! Gotta take the turner out today and get the second bator (we will use for holding chicks durning hatching, if needed) running.

Any last couple days advice? I am so nervous and so proud of Rocco and our flock. I cannot believe I will have some chicks soon.

Yay! I can't wait to see baby pics. I am not qualified to give advice, but advice given to me was don't open that bator until those chicks are all dry and fluffy-not matter what. Of course, I never listened LOL. Do as I say not as I do! Good luck!!!

I have read differing opinions on opening the bator. I have a second bator up and going for transferring chicks into after they are mostly dry. That way the new chicks leave those eggs and babies alone while they pip and unzip. That is my plan anyway.
