Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I got my order on Tuesday - arrived at my PO around 3pm from being shipped from OH on Monday (I'm in S California). All arrived healthy and active, but 2 that were supposed to be Buff Orpingtons are not (I'm not sure what they are, and have been emailing Meyer back and forth with photos trying to figure it out). I got Blue Copper Marans (1st pic), 3 Easter Eggers (2nd and 3rd pics) , Golden Laced Wyandottes, my mystery chicks (2 pics of them, not Buff Orpingtons), Partridge Rocks, and Salmon Favorelles. Any ideas on the mystery chicks? I don't know how Meyer's setup is and what would have been close to the Buffs but put in my box instead...

How about your mystery chicks? What type of combs do they have? Do either have any feathers on their legs? Beards/muffs? Tufts? Sorry, hard to see those details on the computer. Any chance the one in the background is a Black Australorp or maybe a Black or Blue Orpington?

Were you supposed to have 3 Easter Eggers in your order? Did you also order the Meal Maker? I'm wondering if they sent you 2 Orpingtons (one buff in pic #3, and one blue or black in the mystery chick pics), and the remaining black/white chick is either your other Easter Egger or Meal Maker (depending on what you ordered).

I can't really see their combs yet - I was wondering if that one might be the Buff, but in looking back at pics of my 2 previous Buffs as chicks, they didn't have white wing tips, and she's got white. I had a yellow EE chick before, but she had puffy cheeks, along with white wing tips.

The 2 mystery chicks do not have feathers on their legs or muffs (and sadly, the one with black stripes by her eyes, died last night she was lethargic during the afternoon and I have her some Nutridrench and water, but she was dead this morning).

I didn't get the Meal Maker, and since I ordered 2 of everything except 3 EEs, I figured the 2 mystery chicks would be the same breed, and the extra yellow chick should be the 3rd EE. I've looked at the Meyer pics, but am still not sure, and am still waiting on ID from them.

My guess would be the two mystery chicks are EEs. Did you ever find out what breed they are from the hatchery?

Meyer finally got back to me earlier this week and said the mystery chicks were Black Australorps. The 3rd yellow one they said is an EE, even without the muff (and she's developing white wings with very little other color, and has greenish legs). They offered to resend Buffs for free but since they didn't get back to me until after the hatch this week, if I got new chicks, they'd be at least 2 weeks younger than the ones I have and I don't really have the setup to brood a second batch separately and wasn't sure about combining them.

Glad Meyers is willing to make it right, but I know what you mean about being hesitant to combine chicks of differing ages. Once they are a few weeks old, it's not so bad, but when they are only a couple days old and just endured the stress of a cross-country journey, you hate to take your chances. Any chance you could use a rubbermaid-type tote to raise the new ones for the first couple weeks?

Super happy with my chicks from Meyer. I was expecting them to take the maximum 3 days because I pretty much live across the whole country. I was also expecting a least one or two to be DOA and a couple to die later. They hatched on June 26th and arrived early on the 28th. All looked healthy and were alive I thought they were healthy when they arrived, but they were practically bouncing off the walls after a couple of hours with food and water. I'm pretty sure these picture were taken on the day of their arrival. All 15 are still alive and don't seem to have any health issues.

I'm sure I could have figured out something, but I'm also going to have to rehome some of my chicks anyway (can only have so many but ordered more than I wanted in case of deaths, or potential roos, which I may have one). Deciding which ones to keep is already going to be difficult enough without adding a few more that I will get attached to!
