When we placed our order the cookies and cream chicks were not available for our hatch date. Browsing the website this morning, they are now available for the hatch date we chose!

I'm really excited to be able to get one after all! They were the 14yo's first pick plus I'm always a fan of polydactyly. So what I'm wondering is what others' experiences with them are. Reading the reviews there were several about chicks and even young pullets on the verge of laying passing unexpectedly which has me a little concerned. Otherwise they sound perfect for what we are looking for (friendly, not too flighty, cool looking)
I really loved the two I bought early this year, but unfortunately I they got ill and passed away. It was sudden, the symptoms where Merricks disease but I didn't get a final test. One died on way to the vet and the other we euthanized. I was heartbroken. They were the loveliest chickens I ever had. They had just started producing small size eggs when they got sick. So friendly, and pretty. I had bought from a farm where I live in AZ about 5 weeks old and only lived till they were 30 weeks old. I think she must have got them from Meyers because she mentioned her "shipment of them". I actually would consider buying directly from Meyers another time ONLY WITH VACCINATION.(only because that's how much I loved the breed) For now, I'm not getting anything for a long time. Luckily I hadn't mixed them with my other 8 chickens so all was well with the rest (and most were vaccinated, except 2) I still have a hard time walking near their former coop, and I'm not putting anyone there for a long time.
