Meyer hatchery reviews???

Pics
I believe they were just under $10. each with a $100.00 shipping fee add in the tax and I was around $225.00... adds up quick...
Oh my.... I think I counted 8 that was in the pic that you got? That is A LOT of money for only 8 pullets! I always buy chicks because I love to raise them from little on up. The only time I would buy started pullets would be at an auction. The one closest to me, they go for about $5 each and they put about 4 in each pen. So depending on what you want you could expect to pay about $20.

Yes, I wouldn't do it again and the shipping was a surprise to me, I thought it was included in the initial price of $100+ But that was my error.
We wanted to go from egg production to egg production. We enjoy giving a lot away and wanted to keep moving fwd with layers. But I'd rather raise them from chicks.

I had just gotten rid of some of my older hens and roosters and also some pullets. I went to tsc and saw they had some "pullets in the pullet bin". So I got 4 of them and it didn't say exactly what breed they were. So once they started feathering out I then knew they were brahmas. I have one older one and I will NOT get another one. She is mean and doesn't lay the best, but since she is laying right now, I kept her and sent the older hen, roosters, and other brahmas to the local farmers auction. I figure why feed them if they don't have a good laying production. Next time I go to the farmers auction, I will be looking for some EE pullets or sex links since those are really good layers.

i ordered most of my chickens from Meyer hatchery. i have no complaints. i ordered mostly breeding chickens and a Light brahma rooster for show. he turned out to be BEAUTIFUL. i like meyer hatchery and only one of the chicks that i received seemed to be the least bit stressed. i will order from them again

I didn't order from Meyer but many of my chickens came from there this spring. I know several people that order a bunch from them, raise them up and sell them at swaps. With a very large order with many different breeds i know there was some confusion and DOAs, but not too many and they were credited for everything. One I know has ordered from them repeatedly so he's pretty pleased. As far as customer service, that's good. I'm waiting to see what the lacing looks like on my SLW. They are slow! I hope the lacing is better as they mature. My Barred Rocks are cuties though. I like them. All those girls are from Meyer, as are my BAs which are beautiful and were very quick to mature.
I was so pleased with the online chat with Meyer when I was inquiring about some things, and their prices, a friend and I are ordering meat birds from them due to arrive in August. (125 of them, so the price is crazy cheap and the combined order brings the shipping cost way down per bird).
I managed to avoid ordering chicks from them myself, as back to the swap I went and got more, and found a breeder this week for some BCMs I've been wanting.

I can guarantee, though, that I'll be on board with all my friends ordering crazy numbers of chicks next spring. Hahaha

Last night was "the big event" clipping one wing each so the ladies can roam in the pasture and not go over the fence. Yesterday I noticed one hen had a beak issue- the top beak clipped at the hatchery while the lower was not or a genetic thing. Anyway, quite a difference in length. I trimmed the lower beak just a bit leaning on the cautious side, but I know I will need to trim more. This hen has to work much harder to get food and water.
I say this as an alert for you to check right away incase you want the hatchery to replace the hen. I'm sure I waited to long (1 week)

I'm glad to see you were pleased with them and that everyone arrived safely. I was a little wary of ordering from so far away, seeing as I'm in Florida. How many days did it take for them to get there, and how many did you order?

I ordered 6 chicks this spring white cochin, barred rock, red, easter egger, buff orrpington, and a laced polish. They sent me 7-an extra barred rock. One chick died immediately, which I assumed was the extra barred rock, put in for warmth. Now I realize it was the polish. So happy that I have 6 chickens, but was really looking forward to the floppy topped polish. Now it's too late to introduce one or reorder. I guess my review is 75% satisfied.
