Meyer hatchery reviews???

Pics
I have 7 barred rock females ordered for Meyer's hatchery an had to wait until April 11th because of the small order. I'm pretty sure they won't ship small orders in march. I'm soooo excited! I can't wait.

I've ordered from Meyer hatchery many time and have nothing bad to say about them. Some of our chicks went on to the Kentucky State fair and won ribbons! Knowing how and what to do for your chicks before you get them is the best proactive measure to ensure your chicks live once in your possession. Warm sugar water provided when you get them. Pasty butt will kill a chick if not taken care of quickly. The cure we used was a warm damp cloth to clean the vent area then apply a little vaseline to prevent any further fecal buildup. No slippery surfaces because this is what can cause them to do the splits and you can lose a chick this way unless you use a bandaid like a hobble on his lower legs so it can still walk but his/her legs stay underneath them. Given a week or so and they'll be just like new. No drafty area! This will kill them. They need plenty of warmth but also be able to rest where the heat is not too intense. I believe many people have bad luck with chicks because they don't know what to do and when to do it. We have a lot of experience here and never was one to lose chicks.

We have raised many laying hens purchased from Meyer hatchery. At one point we had 70 hens producing large to jumbo eggs. The hens started laying at 16 weeks old and they need 14 hours of light daily. We raised the Black Australorps ( my favorites), white leghorns, black stars, comets, Rhode Island reds and barred rocks. I have also purchased geese, turkeys, ducks and supplies from Meyer and was always very satisfied with their services .

I ordered Marek's Vaccine from them on 5/11 and am sitting here on 5/18 with no delivered vaccine, which is a pretty time sensitive product. Called them today, and while the rep was nice enough - they - nor their manager had any idea where my vaccine was, if it had even shipped, etc. So waiting on a call back about it while I watch my current batch of chicks that were going to be sold and had the vaccination requested - basically waste away as a shipment I can sell. Incredibly irritating since the rep I called the order into last week assured me it would ship that day and arrive within 3 days - so even with a refund or the vaccination and shipping - I'm still taking a loss and stuck with birds I'm not prepared to keep (plus the customer service headache on my end dealing with the order that is suppose to be filled by me presently).

A complete pain in the *** really - when they have multiple forms on contact info on file to reach out to you. Fixing a mistake is only a portion of decent customer service - they're missing out on a big part of getting it right to begin with.

I know this isn't a review, but I want to throw this out there to anyone considering buying from them.

Meyer Hatchery has free shipping on chicks all of July with a min requirement of 25.

But this is a review:
I like Meyer Hatchery very much. I've ordered from them a couple times. My most recent order was in May. I ordered 16 hens and 2 roosters. All the sexing was correct. Sadly, I lost a rooster and a couple hens to a predator. Besides that, everyone is healthy and no chicks were lost in shipping.

@0wen Sorry to hear about your lack of service. I'm sure they're really busy getting out all the spring and summer hatches, but that still isn't an excuse for bad service. Did that med ever come?

We ordered from them again this spring; they are one of the few hatcheries that will ship smaller orders. 3 easter eggers, 2 rhode island reds, 2 blue cochins (both are black, was hoping for blue but oh well - they're adorable), 1 buff brahma, 1 delaware, 1 silver laced wyandotte, and 1 meal maker (think she's a golden buff). They were all healthy upon arrival, and Meyer had included a heat pack much to our relief. They're now going on 7 weeks old, and appear to be all pullets. Last year's order, the gals are excellent layers and sweet companions.

I went to Meyer and was looking at ordering some EE's had 23 pullets and 2 cockerels in my basket. The shipping said 0.00 standard shipping and 15.00 poultry shipping. Will that fix later, or do they still charge for this 'poultry shipping?'
