If the 'Meal Maker' is a meat type bird that is big and chunky and white with black spots it is likely a Cobb broiler strain. Of all the commercial meat breeds this is the only one that routinely expresses a few black feathers.

Meyer Meal Maker... say you order non-meat birds, well they will give you a pullet. Probably of the same breed that you got, the cheeper breed. And they give you a extra meat bird if you order all meat birds.

Yep...I specifically asked last year when I ordered. If you order only meat birds then you get another meat bird otherwise you get a hen. And mine was not one of any of the breeds I ordered. (which was fine with me because I was going for variety) I just took two dozen of her eggs and those of her sisters to a local elder shelter last week,

my meal maker is a red comet, or something like that. red star.... I'm happy with the mystery breed that they sent because in the catalog she's listed as a very productive hen. and an aside, all of my meyer chicks are healthy and wonderfull, it's a great hatchery.

White chicken with black spots is probably a california-white, which is a cross between a white leghorn and a california gray. We used to have one who was our favorite hen, she layed plenty of large eggs.

Ideal has a bird that looks like a California White but it has way more black spots on it and it is bread so that it will never go through a molt and will lay big eggs every day
