Meyer's Hatchery "Meal Maker Special"

@Kristen D I ordered the Mealmaker from Meyer's as well, and got a production red layer. I was very excited about this option as I am the director of our local food pantry. We are in a rural area and serve 400-500 families a month. It can sometimes get expensive for me to buy enough eggs for the pantry, I only have 2 families that donate eggs. I highly recommend getting in contact with your local pantry and see if you can help. Most also take donations of produce!
Also, keep in mind when donating anything to charity organizations, that you should only give things you would use or eat yourself, not garbage. It just isn't kind, and can be expensive for organizations to dispose of your trash!
Thanks for thinking of others, Kristen!
That's amazing that you do that! I would really love to help out the food pantry. I actually have some ideas up my sleeve on how to help more people cost effectively for me. I'm hoping to put them into action this spring with the help of my children :)

I also opted for the Mealmaker and got a White Plymouth Rock rooster. I ordered all hens. I didn't think Rocks were hard to sex but Meyer thinks so.

Yeah, I know! My Barred Plymouth Rock hen ended up being a rooster too! They are sex-linked and should have been easier to get right. But so far, I'm happy with him protecting the flock. I got that mealmaker female, so that kinda makes up for it.
Well, you could always donate him for someone's dinner ;)

I have since had serious problems numerous orders from them. I like the meal maker idea, but I won't purchase from Meyer again.
