Meyers: Positives and Negitives--what's your experience?

Wow! I started this tread sometime ago, and I am suprised it is still going. But, I must say that i am a little disapointed by the mixed bag of stories that i read here so far. I am not any kind of expert at all, but as far as the quality of the birds themselves that I have--I am very pleased. All my Wyendotes have a rose comb, my Amerucanas have beards and both lay green eggs, my one Chochin looks like she is strait out of a ancient chinese painting, and they are all laying lots of eggs! some of the Excequer leghorns combs are laying over but i dont know if that is normal or not. I did not have one 'cross beak' or funky foot. The only kind of abnormality that I could find was that two of the birds (one Welsumer and one Lakenvelder) apear to be very small standards or very large bantams! The Welly lays average size eggs but they are a medium brown--she may not be a welly. the laken turned out to be a roo and found a new home. Oh, i had two roosters that were suposed to be hens--5%? not bad....

I can complain about the service--its great. I ordered 25 standards and 10 bantams. I received, by my count 3 Bantams and 41 standards. i had three standard moralities and all three Bantams died within the first few days. They sent me free of charge 10 more bantams to replace what I lost. so again I cant complain. I did loose four of those Bantams--they all apeared to be the same kind.

all in all I am pleased and plan to order more next year as I cull some over the winter. I must say that as i read simular threads about other hatcheries the reports are much the same--some good some bad. I will be a Meyers man until i get a bad experience.....I hope it doesnt happen.
