I do like the idea of instant death. I have seen traps, like you say, that the creature dies slowly rather than instantly. My closed box traps seem to do okay, but I'd rather know for sure.

I'm just curious as to how long the electric trap will work compared to the victor brand I got before. They didn't last long enough to pay that much but hopeful for the one you're using.

Snap traps are cheap, so it will have to last the rest of my life to pay for itself probably... which I don't expect. Especially here in the PNW on the coast, such high humidity that everything including electronics rusts or molds even when not in direct contact with water. No moving parts might be beneficial though. But it has been nice to have the trap tell me "hey there's something in here." And it's also been nice not to have to worry about touching the dead rodents. And with just a few chicken feed pellets in the well, they don't even come out when I dump the rat... so I don't have to bait it again. So far, no issue with the smell of dead rat keeping them away.

Note, of course... the hay stack is a highly active area for the rodents.

Although I was hopeful, I would almost have to be ignorant to think I would have no more action. :old

So... as SOON as I left my back yard last night, my daughter watched a small baby rat come out and go to my chicken feed bucket (covered). So I took my dogs out to hunt it. One of my dogs is a great hunter while the other is a big cock block (we call him since he likes to stand between us a chickens that might otherwise be trying to approach). Too much excitement, so that one got away.. FOR NOW!
