We now have mice in the coop. I have been putting a barn cat in the coop at night. She has gotten some, but I know there are likely others. If I use the peanut butter mixed with plaster of paris type poison will the dead mouse bodies be potentially poisonous to my cats or chickens if they eat them? Actually, the cats probably won't eat any old dead mouse they find. I'm sure they prefer fresh. However, the chickens will eat anything. I recently discovered them eating a dead snake that had been run over by the lawn mower. A piece of it was even in the duck's kiddie pool, so I know she eats disgusting dead things too.

I'm not worried about them getting the poison itself. I'm worried that that a dying mouse will end up within reach of the chickens or cats and be eaten by them. I know the regular rat poison can be a threat for secondary poisoning. I was wondering if the plaster of paris and peanut butter bat balls were safer.
