Michigan Chickenstock 2013 - planning ahead!

New to raising chickens & recently joined the forum. sounds like it will be a fun event. Since weve never been to a chickenstock, was wondering if some live entertainment would fit in. i play guitar some & could prob get a couple of my music buddies to get a few songs together - acoustic & low-key. no big deal if there is enough other things going on at the event & wouldnt work.

I have 4 little ones. I think something for kids would be fun. Although I have to admit IDK if I will be able to keep up with mine at that point (I am pregnant). I could bring some coloring pages and craft stuff for kids if some one is interested in it.

I will wait till much closer to pick a food to bring is no one minds.

Is there anyone out there willing to bring some good quality sg Dorkings for sale? Specifically looking for a nice quality cockerel. My rooster is so lazy we've named him Garfield. But that's probably just as well because he has only 4 toes on one foot.

Is there a chance of people looking for mixed breed birds, or is everyone looking for mostly pure breeds? I think I may end up with a frizzled serema rooster/buff silkie hen mix or two that is due to hatch May 10.

There will be people there looking for both. Plus some people will be there looking for a bird for the stew pot.

I'll run children's activities if no one else is yet..since I've got 4, and used to run a daycare I think I can handle that. ;) Would it be silly to start a thread for the kids activites...so I have an idea how many might end up being there?
I have 3 kids, so I'd like to help with this part too if you need help- PM me when you have some ideas. :)

Chickenstock has always been a very enjoyable event and I have met some truly wonderful people. This year I have stepped back to allow others to plan and prepare for our annual potluck picnic and chicken sale. If I could be allowed to make one suggestion it would be that someone start and maintain an attendance thread. Having a list of those planning to attend can aid in the planning plus often seeing that a particular person is planning to come can be a deciding factor in other folks attendance.

For a variety of reasons it hasn't been determined if I will be able to make this years event but I certain want to. Each Chickenstock has become a cherished memory and something I really look forward to. I hope that I can attend since not feeling the responsiblity of the event would allow me much for time to visit with all of you.

I will try and make it this year and of course will be bringing Faverolles to sell not sure how many at this point or ages and will figure a dish as well
